Like most businesses in India during the British rule, Empire too, was part of a British Company. India s independence, threw open new business opportunities for Indian Entrepreneurs and India awoke to life and freedom.

It was the year after the successful launching of India s first rocket from the Thumba Rocket Centre in South India. The year of 1963.... that year had its own private launch for Mr. S. C. Malhotra, the launching of his first enterprise - The Empire Dyeing & Manufacturing Company Ltd, Bombay. It was the beginning of what has grown today into a leading group of enterprises....
