PERMANAR
PERMANAR(Waterproofing and joint sealing compounds, bonding agent for concrete) is an acrylic-styrene based polymeric compound that feature excellent bonding properties as well as providing resistance to water. It has also provides good resistance to acids and is made available in two grades including PERMANAR-F and PERMANAR-D.

Having a density of 0.9 and a pH of about 6.0, PERMANAR-F is a sealant of low viscosity and is of off-white colour. It is characterized by high flexibility of over five hundred percent and used in sealing hairline & wide cracks including expansion joints on roof as well as other structures. With application on both dry and wet surfaces, should it be exposed to ultraviolet rays, calcium carbonate or flyash should be also spread on it when it is still sticky.

PERMANAR-D has excellent resistance to water & good resistance to acids. It helps in providing a hard coating an can be mixed with aggregates to prepare polymer concrete or mixed with cement, concrete & plaster to improve bond. Both PERMANAR-F & PERMANAR-D also have excellent bondig strength to concrete and masonry. PERMANAR-D is also used as admixture to improve bond of old concrete to new concrete.

APPLICATION:

  • The length along crack to be treated should be thoroughly cleaned & made free from dust, laitance, foreign bodies
  • PERMANAR-F or PERMANAR-D is then poured along crack length and is pushed into crack by continuous brushing or by other means
  • Should the joints, treated with PERMANAR-F or PERMANAR-D be topped with other construction, sand is spread for better bonding when PERMANAR-F or PERMANAR-D treatment is still sticky
  • Loose & un-bonded excess sand on treated area is removed by light brooming after sealant surface dries (Prior to application of the overlying construction)

TYPICAL USES:

  • PERMANAR-F & PERMANAR-D is used to seal many fine as well as wide cracks on old roofs of lime concrete jack arches at Halisahar and Kanchrapara Townships of Eastern Railways
