Designed for connecting reinforcing bar to structural steel sections or plates. More Information

Similar to the standard coupler, the weldable (or half) coupler is internally taper threaded on one end, with the other end prepared for welding. These couplers are machined from weldable grades of material such as A.I.S.I. 1018, 1030, 1035 or St52.3 depending on rebar size. The couplers are usually arc welded to the structural steel in a fabricating shop. The design of the weld, the selection of electrode, and other relevant choices depend on the chemical and physical properties of the structural steel to which the couplers are welded.

These couplers are machined from non-weldable grades of material, but can be tack welded. S13 can make a convenient transition from reinforcing bar to threaded stud, maintaining the full strength of the bar. Transition is useful when forming long tie-bars, such as in formwork or pile-planks against internal pressure and to form a restraint anchor for ground anchors.

The LENTON INTERLOK coupler is fastened to the bar by means of the LENTON tapered thread. The assembly is positioned within the formwork at the precaster’s plant prior to placement of concrete. The splice is completed at the jobsite, where the exposed dowel of the adjoining structural member is inserted into the sleeve, which is then filled with grout. The completed connection meets or exceeds international codes and standards.

The LENTON® FORM SAVER ANCHOR mechanical rebar splicing system is a method of splicing rebar in segmental concrete construction applications. The coupler is friction welded to a headed anchor/shear stud and a reinforcing bar has LENTON® tapered threads that match the coupler. When the form is stripped, the end of the coupler is exposed. Simply remove the protective cap and screw in the taper threaded male dowel bar. Tightening with a pipe wrench is recommended to help assure a no slip connection or possible loosening during concrete vibration. This system eliminates bent bar anchorages, protruding dowels and the need to drill holes in expensive formwork.

LENTON® LOCK, an in-situ rebar splice from ERICO®, requires no bar-end preparation. It is ideal for repair, new construction, or retrofit applications. The LENTON LOCK coupler features patented gripping technology that provides for the development of full rebar strength and improved overall structural integrity in tension, compression, stress-reversal and dynamic applications. This unique design allows the coupler to be smaller and more streamlined.

LENTON LOCK couplers allow for easy and simple field installation since no bar-end preparation, sawing or swaging is necessary. The couplers can be installed with just a standard wrench, nut runner  or an impact wrench depending on coupler size. The bolt heads will shear off when proper installation tightness has been reached, which allows for completely visual inspection.

The completed connection performs similar to a continuous piece of rebar.

How CADWELD Works
The CADWELD splice utilizes an internally grooved sleeve working in conjuction with the rebar deformations. Load is transferred from the rebar to the sleeve via CADWELD filler material. The finished connection develops strength and consistency without equal in the industry.

How to Install CADWELD T-Series Horizontal Splice
1. Ensure you have the following components to make one splice:

2. Clean the rebar of surplus particles and make sure it is free of moisture by pre-heating it, add spacer and position (centre) the sleeve over the rebar join.

3. Position the End Alignment Fittings over the rebar at each end of the sleeve. Insert the Packing Material around the rebar inside the Alignment Fitting.

4. Attach the Horizontal Packing Clamp to the rebar.

5. Insert Guide Tube and then Pouring Basin Ceramic into the Sleeve outlet. Position the Horizontal Pouring Basin Frame over the sleeve.

6. Preheat all graphite components to make sure they are moisture free before installation.

LENTON® STEEL FORTRESS is a shear reinforcement system that provides a simple solution to the complex problem of brittle punching shear. LENTON STEEL FORTRESS consists of a continuous flat steel strip that has holes punched along its center and is pre-bent in the plant into a custom-shaped profile to fit over the top of the flexural reinforcement bars in the concrete slab. The steel strips in the LENTON STEEL FORTRESS System meet or exceed ASTM A505-87 requirements with a minimum yield strength of 72,500 psi (500 MPa) and a minimum elongation of 11%.

The LENTON STEEL FORTRESS System is supplied to the site individually boxed on a per column basis and is custom made to meet your specific application needs. Because the product installs over the uppermost layer of main reinforcing bars, placement is fast and easy. This placing method accommodates unexpected design changes and makes on-site inspection simple. In addition, the horizontal length of the system provides ample space to accommodate irregular rebar placement.

The capability of the LENTON STEEL FORTRESS System to anchor to the top tier reduces the possibility of the induced shear cracks bypassing the shear reinforcement, thus preventing brittle punching shear failure. Because the LENTON STEEL FORTRESS can encapsulate the upper layer without unduly affecting cover, it overcomes the inability to anchor over the uppermost tensile reinforcement layer that some other systems encounter.  

 

The LENTON STEEL FORTRESS has many advantages over other traditional and proprietary punching shear reinforcement systems. It minimizes the need for stud reinforcement systems, column capitals, drop panels and additional stirrups. It also optimizes flying forms, saves time and labor by going in after the rebar is placed, and is exceptionally lightweight and cost effective. In addition, the system develops its yield strength over a much smaller length, enabling it to be used in thinner concrete slabs.

The product is patent protected, ICC®-ES recognized: Report ER-5668 and certified by the City of Los Angeles Report RR25486. It conforms to ACI 318.02, as well.

Changes to the Building Code Requirements for Masonry Construction require longer lap lengths for some bar sizes. These changes mean more congestion in masonry cells and more difficult construction.
