We have our own quarries, which are basically a type of open-pit mine from which, rock or minerals are extracted. These are usually shallower than other types of open-pit mines and are used for extraction of stones for building and decorative stone, aggregates, industrial purposes, lime burning and cement. The quarrying system consists of drilling and blasting to break the rock. It is done by firing large number of charges at one time, which produces up to 20,000 tons of broken stone in one blast. The broken stone is then crushed into minor pieces that are removed into consistent classes by selection.
