Fluoroguard (Polymer Additive)
|
Fluoroguard is incorporated into the polymer matrix by using conventional melt compounding equipment. Fluoroguard can be processed at temperatures as high as 300°c (572°f), because of its excellent thermal stability and low volatility. The recommended loading of fluoroguard is 0. 1–1%, depending on the base polymer matrix and final performance requirements. To realize efficient fluoroguard incorporation, a twin-screw extruder with liquid additive feeding or injection capability is most suitable for compounding this additive with thermoplastic polymers. The processing equipment should be cleaned and purged properly with recommended purging compound, followed by base polymer/fluoroguardto ensure accurate loading. A fluoroguard masterbatch 10% fluoroguard can also be prepared and used in polymer compound formulations.
