Esvin Tech had acquired exclusive license for gasification of Black Liquor from paper mills and Effluents from distilleries, for Indian territory, from M/s Manufacturing and Technology Conversion International, Inc., (MTCI) Maryland, USA. Esvin Tech, with the funding assistance of USD 0.5 million from US-AID (routed through ICICI Bank in India) had set up a demo plant at the mill premises of SPB, Erode in 1993. Esvin Tech has promoted this technology for recovery of chemicals from silica laden black liquor discharged by small agro based Paper Mills and for treatment of effluents from Distilleries to achieve near “Zero Discharge”. Recognizing the importance of this technology and to facilitate commercialization of this technology, Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF), Government of India extended an additional Grant Assistance of Rs. 4.5 million.
Esvin Tech has been involved in promoting bio-bleaching of Pulp by using Xylanase Enzyme for reduction of Chlorine usage (leading to reduction in AoX in the effluent) in Paper mills. By setting up a Joint Venture Company in Chennai with an Australian Company, Esvin Tech had pioneered the commercial manufacture of Xylanase Enzyme and carried out Enzymatic pre-bleaching trials successfully both in India and China.
Encouraged by the Government of India's thrust in introducing biotechnology in the agricultural sector, Esvin Tech had recently forayed into Bio-Agri products and secured a Grant Assistance of Rs 2.00 million from the Department of Agriculture, Government of India for setting up a Biofertilizer Production Unit at Erode, Tamil Nadu. The Company has also developed a range of Biopesticides, which are to be used along with Biofertilizers towards Organic Farming. |
