Thrust ball bearings are classified into those with flat seats or aligning seats depending on the shape of the outer ring seat (housing washer). Designed to handle thrust loads while operating at high speeds, these ball bearings are able to sustain axial loads but not radial loads. Thrust ball bearings provide optimum performance in high-speed applications, particularly where loads are generally lighter.
