About Installation of Bellows
One should always keep in mind the fact that bellow is not a hardware that can take up misalignments & weights owing to inadequately designed piping system. The below-mentioned information regarding the installation of bellows is according to the recommendations of EJMA.
Ideally, Metal Bellows Expansion Joints are specially designed to absorb a particular amount of movement by flexing of the thin-gauge convolutions. Thus, here arises the need of careful and proper installation as incorrect installation may result in reduction of the cycle life and the pressure capacity of the expansion joints. This may in turn cause early failure of the bellows element or damage of the piping system.
In order to evade the most common errors occurring during installation, these recommendations are to be followed. If there is any uncertainty about installation procedure, we suggest that the client must contact the manufacturer/piping design engineer for clarification before making the efforts to install the Expansion Joint.
Besides, according to the commendations of a piping design engineer, the piping system is to be ingeniously designed with proper supports hangers etc.
