Energy Recovery Unit (EP Series)

Energy Recovery Unit (EP Series)
These units can precondition air for a conventional air handler or they can perform as an independent, integrated system with a variety of heating and cooling options.

SEMCO's EP Series offers the ultimate performance in the transfer of total energy (both latent and sensible). Pre-engineered and factory assembled, the EP Series system also provides the air handling capability for the building's exhaust and supply air. The system can be selected to precondition outdoor air going to other conventional air handling systems or as an integrated system that provides total space conditioning with additional heating and cooling options available.

The heart of this system is a technologically advanced EXCLU-SIEVE® desiccant wheel. In addition to providing superior performance, the wheel's 3Å molecular sieve-desiccant coating is selective in what it adsorbs from an exhaust air stream. The desiccant rejects airborne contaminants while it transfers water vapor, thus providing total energy transfer from the exhaust to the supply air stream. Selectivity allows EXCLU-SIEVE to be used in critical applications, including recovery from contaminated air streams. In the past, energy recovery was avoided or limited to sensible-only energy exchange in applications like these.

Energy Recovery Unit (VS Series)

Energy Recovery Unit (VS Series)

the vs series is available in four cabinet sizes ranging in airflow capacity from 2,500 scfm to 15,000 scfm and can be used to precondition outdoor air going to other conventional air handling systems or as an integrated system that provides total space conditioning with the additional heating and cooling options available.

the vs series is a midsized ventilation system that is available in four cabinet sizes ranging in airflow capacity from 2,500 scfm to 15,000 scfm and can be used to precondition outdoor air going to other conventional air handling systems or as an integrated system that provides total space conditioning with the additional heating and cooling options available.

the heart of this system is a technologically advanced exclu-sieve® desiccant wheel. In the past, energy recovery was avoided or limited to sensible-only energy exchange in applications like these.

the exclu-sieve wheel uses a fluted media with an aluminum backbone, which is coated with a fast-acting, adsorbent desiccant surface. As the transfer media slowly rotates between the outdoor and exhaust air streams, the warmer air surrenders its sensible energy to the aluminum. This energy is then shifted to the cooler air stream during the second half of the revolution.

Fresh Air Ventilator (FV Series)

Fresh Air Ventilator (FV Series)
The FV Fresh Air Ventilator has efficiency ratings up to 80 percent and provides a healthier, more comfortable indoor atmosphere in a cost efficient package.

The SEMCO FV (Fresh Air Ventilator) Series of outdoor air pre-conditioners have been specifically designed to reduce the energy required to heat or cool outdoor air by up to 80 percent. The FV pre-conditioner allows the HVAC system to effectively and economically accommodate the three-to-four-fold increase in outdoor air quantities, which is recommended by the ASHRAE Standard 62, Ventilation for Acceptable Indoor Air Quality. This unique capability allows both new and existing buildings to benefit from a healthy indoor environment.

SEMCO's FV pre-conditioner significantly reduces the operating cost of a facility designed in accordance with the ASHRAE IAQ standard. It also improves humidity control when combined with unitary heating and cooling equipment. Because the SEMCO unit preconditions the incoming air to the packaged equipment, the required refrigeration capacity may be reduced by as much as 50 percent. Thus, the cost of the FV pre-conditioner and its installation is typically offset by the reduced size of the conventional HVAC system.

In existing facilities, retrofitting the HVAC system with an FV pre-conditioner allows the outdoor air quantity to be increased significantly without raising energy costs, losing humidity control, or changing the size of the current HVAC unit.

Energy Recovery Unit (Pinnacle)

The Pinnacle system manages 100% of a building’s ventilation, humidity, and temperature, while simultaneously reducing energy loads.

Energy efficient design and indoor air quality are two major challenges facing mechanical engineers today in the field of Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning (HVAC). To minimize the loss of energy, building envelopes have been made more energy efficient. This reduces the cost associated with cooling or heating the building. By tightening the building envelopes, the amount of outside air entering the building is reduced. However, that outside air is needed to remove the air contaminants generated indoors. Flushing these pollutants from the indoors to the outdoors has been the most effective way of reducing indoor air contaminants to acceptable levels.

The HVAC industry has responded to these indoor air quality (IAQ) concerns through its professional organization, The American Society of Heating and Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE). Several years ago, ASHRAE issued IAQ Standard 62, entitled "Ventilation for Acceptable Indoor Air Quality". This standard emphasizes the need for continuous outdoor air ventilation as well as the importance of maintaining indoor humidity levels. This standard has now been integrated, in some fashion, into each of the three major building codes used throughout the United States.
