VERTICAL FREE -STANDING PUMPS : The shaft ratates in sleeve bearings lubricated by the liquid pumped. The motor bearing carries the axial-thrust. The motor- stool bearings are grease lubricated. Intermediate column bearings are normally lubricated by the liquid pumped. CASING AND IMPELLERS : The pump body is radially split into individual stages, each stage being fitted with a diffuser guiding the flow into the next stage, thereby increasing the pressure by the head generated in each individual impeller. LINE-SHAFT : A specially alloy steel having high torsional strength is used in the line-shaft. Correct rotation of the shaft and propeller is assured at all times.. DISCHARGE ELBOWS : The discharge elbow is made of heavy sheet steel with wided sections, designed for higher efficiency. NON-REVERSE-RATCHET : The unit normally incorporates the non reverse ratchet. This feature is positive assurance that the shaft cannot be unscrewed by accidental phase reversal, and avoids undue stress caused by motor starting at time of shaft reversal. HORIZONTAL SPLIT-CASE PUMPS The Flowmore line of single stage, double suction, Split-case Centrifugal pump is representative of the broad line of Flowmore pumps serving industry.
The Flowmore lines comprises a complete family of single stage, double suction, split-case centrifugal pumps. Flowmore pumps are for high, moderate, medium and low heads. Each unit of this pump line has the same features of design and construction and the same general appearance. Available as basic unmounted pumps or with base and flexible coupling for mounting of electric motor, diesel engine, gasoline engine, steam turbine, belt drive or dual drive IMPELLER : Impeller is one piece of cast-iron or bronze or any other material commercially available. Internal and external surfaces are carefully machined and finished to produce best possible pump performance. Impeller is for any other material commercially available pressed on the shaft over a key extending beyond the impeller so that the key also drives the shaft sleeves and prevents rotation of the sleeve on the shaft BEARINGS AND HOUSING : Ball-bearings are of ample size to withstand all axial and radial loads imposed upon them. Bearing housings are of the cartridge type so designed to permit the entire rotating element to be removed from the pump without disturbing the alignment or exposing the bearings to dirt, water, or other contaminants. Housings are positioned by means of dowel pins in the lower half of casing. STUFFING BOX : Stuffing Boxes are extra deep to accommodate the packing and a seal cage. The box is tapped for sealing liquid. Glands are of the split type, easily removable for repacking and are held in position by swing type glands bolts. Mechanical Rotary Seals in place of packings are available.
WEARING RINGS : Impeller Wearing rings are locked against either rotation and are machined integral with the impeller to ensure concentricity. Casing wearing rings are secured by tongue and groove fit with lower half casing. SHAFT ASSEMBLY : Shaft is of alloy steel machined and accurately ground to size. Removable shaft sleeves provide protection against corrosive and abrasive action of the liquid pumped. Shaft sleeves are locked on the shaft by exterior sleeve nuts secured by set screws. This premits axial adjustment of the impeller. CASING : Casing is a dense, high strength iron designed and cast to make all water passages smooth without exceesive hand finishing. Opposed dowels insure proper alignment of upper and lower casing. Bearing brackets are cast integrally to maintain accurate and permanent alignment. Provision is made for piping stuffing box leakage to drains and overflow holes are provided to protect the bearings in the events the drains become clogged. Upper half of casing is easily removed for inspection and repairs, and is so designed that entire rotating element can be removed without disturbing pipe connections or the driver. Packaging-boxes are provided commensurate with the operating pressure range of the unit. Exceptionally deep boxes with multiple packaging are required and furnished for high pressure applications. Adequate provision is made for lubrication and pressure relief. Just as all the other components recieve individual consideration, the packaging boxes are also tailor-made to suit the duty. Mechanical seals can be furnished for highly volatile liquids or as desired. This is an alternate construction to the conventional packed-box. Seals are available for low, intermediate or high pressure ranges and in a wide variety of material of construction according to service requirement. Frame is of special construction assuring the ultimate in alignment and rigidity with proper supports for the rotating parts of pump. All suction elbows are provided with bolted inspection covers, the interior contour of which conform to the inside of the elbow. These inspection covers permit access to the impeller inlet or to the run of pipe immediately preceding the pump suction.
