Silicone Coated Suture These braided silk sutures are specially treated with silicone or wax to give strength and smoothen the surface. All these sutures conform to the USP standards and they are not used in biliary and urinary tract surgery. Widely used as ligature they have moderate tissue reaction and are also used for other applications like skin, opthalmic, GI tract, etc.
