About Us

Galaxy Cables Industries is manufacturer of bare overhead aluminium conductors as per international norms & specifications. Galaxy Cables Industries is an ISO: 9002 certified company manufacturing conductors as per the requirements of the customers. In addition we also hold a valid license for IS:398 (Part I, II, & IV). For the last 12 years Galaxy Cables Industries has steadily built its reputation as a company on whom the customers can depend on for quality conductors and on time delivery, for which the personnel employed work double time to ensure conductors reach you on time and are of high quality.

In fact these qualities constitute the core strength of galaxy in which we take pride. From day one Galaxy Cables Industries was a quality conscious, progressive company, with each employee trained and motivated to be quality conscious. We are situated in western Maharashtra about 400 kms. from Mumbai and on Karnataka state border. Galaxy Cables Industries is a small scale industries with technically well qualified work force.

"Powers the Towers" is our vision statement. We have set ourselves high standards with regard  to market share,  maintaining standards in quality and to be synonymous with quality at adequate price with on time delivery.

History
Galaxy Cables Industries was established in the year 1990, with a view to cater to the growing demands of proper manufacture in the country by manufacturing word class conductors. Initially we started out by manufacturing  A. A. C. & A. C. S. R. conductors.  But due to rapid advances in the field of transmission lines we expanded with-in five years and added another arm to our manufacturing capability by manufacturing A. A. A. C. conductor in the year 1995.

Such capabilities of both the men & machine gave us the much-needed boost, morale to take on any Challenges thrown by the markets of today. Since its inception Galaxy Cables Industries has successfully maintained the ideal combination of Latest technology and the much needed human expertise to manufacture conductors of international. standards. We remain vigilant to see that the entire process of manufacturing, right from raw materials to the finished products are tested and subjected to a strict watch at every stage in the manufacturing process by adopting  and adhering to the various national and international quality standards.

The company 1st went in for ISI standards (Bureau of Indian Standards) and to further strengthen its credibility amongst its customers as a quality manufacturer its now an 'ISO' certified company and are pleased to inform you that we have acquired ISO:9002 certificate from Det Norske Veritas ( Holland ), being a proof of the stringent quality norms enforced in Galaxy Cables Industries.

Our Product Range

Today we have achieved expertise in manufacturing the following conductors,
The wide product range cover the full spectrum from,

a) All Aluminium Conductors (A. A. C.)
b) Aluminium Conductors Galvanised steel reinforced (A.C.S.R.)
c) All Aluminium Alloy Conductors (A. A. A. C.)
d) Aluminium Conductors Alloy Reinforced (A. C. A. R.)

Frequently Asked Questions

Q.1 What is meant by bare aluminium stranded conductor?
Ans. Three or more aluminium strands twisted together with specific length & direction of lay and having no metallic covering suitable for carrying an electric current.

Q.2 What is the meaning of A.A.C.,  A.C.S.R.,  A.A.A.C., A.C.A.R., Conductor ?
Ans a) A.A.C. : All Aluminium Conductor - Conductor having all the individual wires of aluminium only. These are used for low voltage (L.T) distribution lines with short spans.

b) A.C.S.R. : Aluminium Conductor Steel Reinforced - Aluminium Conductor having a central core of galvanized steel wire(s). This is used for High Voltage (H.T) and Extra High Voltage (E.H.V.) transmission lines with medium to longer spans

c) A.A.A.C. : All Aluminium Alloy Conductor -Conductor having the individual wires made of aluminium alloyed with Silicon & Magnesium which are heat treated to obtain better tensile strength. These are used for transmission lines in coastal areas.

d) A.C.A.R.: Aluminium Conductor Alloy Reinforced - Aluminium conductor having a central core of aluminium alloy wire(s).

Q.3 What is Wire Drawing Process?
Ans. The process in which 9.5 mm diameter redraw wire rod is drawn through series of successively smaller dies in a wire drawing machine. OR It is the process of reducing the cross section of a wire by pulling it through a die or dies at a temperature lower than the recrystallization temperature.

Q.4 What is the term tolerance?
Ans. It is a specific allowance for deviation from a standard for dimension, weight or property.

Q.5 What is conductor sag?
Ans. It is the vertical distance between a suspended conductor and an imaginary straight line connecting to the point of suspension.

Q.6 What is lay ratio?
Ans. The rations of the lay length of lay to the external diameter of the corresponding layer.

Q.7 What is conductivity?
Ans. A term used to describe the current carrying capability of a conductor and usually expressed m percentage.

Precautions To Be Taken

Use proper equipment for handling Aluminium conductor,

1. The conductor drums/reels should be carefully unloaded from the transport to ground with the help of crane.

2. Rotate the reel while unwinding the conductor. Unreeling should not be done at unmanageable speed.

3. To avoid nicking or kinking of the conductor, parallel jaw grips with suitable lines should be used while pulling the conductor.

4. For jointing and pulling the conductor around the angle points, always use free running sheaves or blocks with adequate grovees.

5. The conductor should be spliced carefully with proper technique.

6. All the strands of the conductor should be properly gripped before pulling.

7. Conductor should not be pulled too much and also there should not be excessive slacks.

8. For increasing the life of the Aluminium distribution and transmission lines, the conductor at the supports should be carefully bound to the shackles or insulators with flat Aluminium tape for distribution lines and tapered armour rods for transmission lines.

9. To avoid damage to the strands, mark the conductor with crayons or friction tape.
