GEM manufactures a wide range of lead-in-wire types to satisfy the requirements of the lighting and related industries. The function of lead-in-wire in electric lamps is to provide an electric connection to the filament along with a glass-to-metal seal component. Wherever necessary, a built in fuse link is also available within a lead-in-wire pair. The lead-in-wire types manufactured covers a wide range of dimensions and materials to suit the many applications and lamp types.

Lead-in-wires are produced by welding three wires - namely; the Inner Lead (which supports the filament), Press or Seal (which provides the glass-to-metal seal), and the Outer Lead (which is directly connected to the power source).

Gem also helps to design complete specification for lead-in-wires and component wires for any type of electric lamp, for lamp factories not having and in-depth knowledge of lead-in-wires. Training on successful use of lead-in-wires in lamp making and minimizing associated wastage is also available.

A full range of lead-in-wire making machines, lead-in-wire raw materials, know-how and training can be provided by Gem for the making lead-in-wires, as a package project.

The lead-in-wires are made by Percussion Electric or Gas Welding techniques, depending upon the volume and the materials.

For domestic lamps, fluorescent lamps, and automobile lamps; the inner lead material is mostly made of Nickel Plated Steel (NPS) or Nickel Plated Bronze (NPCuSn) or Nickel Plated Copper (NPC) wire.

Gem manufacturers all the above three materials in its "sate-of-the-art" facility for in-house consumption and exports (worldwide). The wires are bright, smooth and highly suitable to make lead-in-wires on automatic, high-speed machines.

These wires confirm to the relevant customer specifications or international standards, as per requirements. The wires are available in various DIN Spools from DIN 80 to DIN 355 depending on diameter of the wire and the customer's requirement.
