World-class Workshops:
Gmmco maintains state-of-the-art workshop and repair facilities across the country.

Of these, the Nagpur workshop is one of the very few in the Asia-Pacific region to be accredited with the 5 star contamination control certification by Caterpillar. The Chennai workshop facility has also been awarded a 4 star contamination control certification.

These Certifications are awarded by Caterpillar after a rigorous audit to assess the levels of contamination in the workshop and the processes which are adopted to control the same.

Product Support:
Gmmco's Sales Engineers are trained to offer customized solutions to suit specialized needs of customers, and are more often Consultants than Sales Men.

They help customers in sizing and selection of the right equipment and also offer guidance on the wide variety of attachments that Caterpillar offers. They work with customers right from the start to choose the right  after-sales support solution from the many options Gmmco offers. These offerings are then tailor-made to meet your specific needs.

These initiatives ensure that production is maximized, and operating costs and downtime are minimized.

World-class Caterpillar Marine Engines for Propulsion, Power Generation and for Auxiliary applications are available through Gmmco in India. Gmmco offers total propulsion systems as per the requirement of the user. The generator offered can be tailor-made in terms of ‘power management’. Gmmco also offers Diesel Electric Propulsion (DEP) units for Propulsion purposes. In short, Gmmco offers you engines for all applications and all types of vessels.

Gmmco actively renders support right from the design stage in coordination with the naval architect, and assists in correct Engine configuration and proper sizing. Gmmco is tied up with all the major shipyards in the country, with ongoing project execution with almost all of them. A dedicated Projects Cell at Gmmco renders specialized support to shipyards during the execution process.

Caterpillar engines will soon be put to use by the Indian Navy and the Indian Coast Guard in large numbers.

For Propulsion, the product ranges from 125 to 7577bhp as a single engine, and for Power Generation from 11 to 5200ekw as a Single Generator.

The generators ranging from C1.5 (11ekw) towards C18 (550ekw) are very widely accepted in the industry. These power ranges are in huge demand particularly for Standby and Emergency applications due to the high reliability factor.

The ‘C’ series of Engines are state-of-art surpassing the stringent emission norms range from C7 (250bhp) to C280 (7268bhp) as a single engine.

The Indian Oil and Gas Industry is estimated to be worth over US$120 Billion in the next 25 years. India is the 5th largest energy consumer in the world and predicted to become 4th by 2010. Gmmco’s role in the Oil and Gas Industry:
Gmmco has been a very successful and important partner of ONGC in their E&P effort. Over 400 Caterpillar Engines owned by ONGC are supported by GMMCO and TIL, and so are over a 100 engines owned by private drilling contractors at any point in time in India. These are used on the most critical operations like Power Packs on Jack Up Rigs and Land Rigs, Emergency Gensets, Fire Water Pumps, Cranes, Well Servicing and many more. Gmmco’s engagement extends much beyond providing new engine solutions and runs deep into providing quality support to ensure high uptime of Caterpillar products.

Gmmco has scaled great heights by taking up ambitious projects involving in-situ replacement of Caterpillar D399 Engines with Caterpillar 3512B Engines. H Jayaram, Executive Director & CEO
H Jayaram is a Mechanical Engineer and a post graduate in Finance from IIM Bangalore. He joined Gmmco in the year 1999 and has more than two decades of rich experience in the earthmoving industry. As CEO of Gmmco, he has given a new vision and direction to Gmmco. Under his leadership, Gmmco has become a highly responsive and reliable customer-centric organization.

Rajendra K Parwal, Senior Vice President (Finance & Systems):
Rajendra K Parwal is a chartered accountant with more than twenty five years of experience in the areas of financial planning, taxation and accounting. He heads the Finance & Information Technology Group and brings to Gmmco a wealth of experience and expertise. He has been with Gmmco since 1989.

Robinson Devaprasad, Vice President (HR):
Robinson Devaprasad is a graduate in Chemistry, from Loyola College, Chennai, with a post graduate qualification in PM & IR from MSSW and in Training & Development from ISTD. With over 21 years of experience in Human Resources, he heads Human Resources at Gmmco. He is also responsible for 6-Sigma Deployment. Associated with the C.K. Birla Group since 2003, he was earlier VP-HR, Group Human Resources.

V Subhash Babu, Associate Vice President:
Subhash Babu is a Mechanical Engineer from Osmania University with a post graduate degree in Marketing from XLRI. With more than twenty five years of experience in the area of Construction Equipment, Subhash Babu is in-charge of Andhra Pradesh operations and currently working out of Hyderabad. He has been with Gmmco since 1999.

Ravisekhar Sankaranthi, Associate Vice President - Engines Business:
Ravisekhar Sankaranthi is a Mechanical Engineer, with almost twenty three years of experience in the area of Sales, Marketing and Business Development. His expertise includes diesel and gas engines for various applications.

For over forty years now, Gmmco has been playing a major role in nation building by supplying and supporting machines and engines that help in building the infrastructure in the country…. coal, power, oil and gas, roads, ports, iron and steel, cement, and so on. Gmmco represents Caterpillar who are the world leaders in construction and mining machines and engines for power generation and other applications.

I am particularly proud of our 1200-strong, highly skilled workforce which has showed tremendous dedication, passion and commitment to render round-the-clock customer support. This helps us in moving towards our vision of achieving customer delight.
