Our plant have the capability to manufacture different lead alloys as per stringent user-industry determined specifications.
There are three oxides of lead with commercial applications:
Lead sub-oxide (2PbO.Pb.H2O), also known as grey/lead oxide,
Litharge (PbO)
Red lead oxide (Pb3O4) or lead ortho-plumbate.
Company provides comprehensive (off the shelf) solutions for the manufacturing of all three lead oxides commonly named as lead sub oxide (grey oxide / battery oxide), red lead oxide (lead tetra oxide) & litharge oxide (lead mono oxide / lead yellow oxide) with the required process inputs.
Lead Pipe (Seamless) is made from pure lead metal (99.97% min.) or lead alloys, which is readily fabricated by extrusion. Lead metal have excellent property of corrosion resistance and flexibility. Lead pipes finds many uses in the chemical industry.
We offer pure lead (Chemical Grade) pipes & antimonial lead pipes as per client specification. Our standard sizes are min 10mm ID and max 200mm ID.
The typical usage of Lead Powder is oil and gas exploration, radiological medical protective clothing, industrial X-ray shielding, golf club manufacturing, anti-friction products, radiological protective gloves etc.
Gravita’s refining plant uses pyrometallurgical process for lead refining, producing lead with a minimum purity level of 99.97% from smelting furnaces tapped crude lead. Company supply refining kettle furnaces of various capacities ranging from 5-100 tonnes per batch, accompanied by high efficiency natural gas / LPG burners / furnace oil burners, equipped with preheating arrangements. Emissions are controlled by a flexible kettle hood, with series of pollution control equipments chained with wet scrubber, attached to an induced draft fan along with a chimney/stack arrangement.
We offer lead sheets from 0.5mm to 60mm thickness, length up to 80' ft and width up to 6.5' ft subject to the thickness. Our normal composition options are:

Lead Sheets are used in x-ray and gamma-ray protection, building construction for roofing and flashing, shower pans, flooring, vibration damping and soundproofing. Lead Sheets are also used in chemical industries.
Gravita exclusively engaged in establishing lead smelting plant by providing technology, plant & machinery, training of personals etc. The smelting of lead involves several elements that are required to reduce the various forms of lead (mainly lead oxide and lead sulphates) into metallic lead, mostly this includes;
A source of carbon, usually in the form of metallurgical, petroleum coke, charcoal and
Energy, mostly available from natural gas, oil or electricity and
Neutralizing agents used to capture Sulphur such as caustic, soda ash, or lime and
Fluxing agents also used to capture Sulphur and improve Lead recovery. Frequently this includes various forms of iron and slag enhancing materials.
Lead wool, a form of caulking lead, is long, fine strands of chemical grade lead which is twisted into 5/8”rope for use in various applications and is available in 5 lb. cartons or 50 lb. waterproof bags. It averages about 2-½ ft. to one pound. Lead wool is certified to meet federal specification qq-c-40.
The lead wool is used to seal flanged connections, cast iron, cement and earthenware pipes, and apertures of walls and ceilings. Very good ductility of lead ensures fast and easy filling and sealing of small slots too. It is also convenient for anti-radiation protection. The lead resistance to aggressive environment is a warranty of long-term durability of seal.
The biggest use of lead worldwide is for the lead-acid battery. The commonest type of lead-acid battery consists of a heavy duty plastic box containing lead alloy pasted grids. The grids are made from a lead-antimony together with minor additions of elements such as copper, arsenic, tin and selenium. These are added to confer properties such as grain refinement, fluidity and age-hardening characteristics to the grids. For the new generation of sealed, maintenance free batteries a range of lead calcium-(tin) alloys is used.
Litharge, which is lead mono-oxide (PbO) is a yellowish or reddish, odourless, heavy, earthy, water-insoluble, solid, PbO, used chiefly in the manufacture of lead stabilizers (lead steareates), pottery, lead glass, paints, enamels, and inks. Litharge is also called lead monoxide, lead oxide, plumbous oxide.
Other use of litharge is as intermediate used in a variety of industries like lubricants and greases, insecticides, inorganic pigments, lead soaps, petroleum refining, rubber and PVC etc.
Pure lead ingot is being produced from raw lead bullion / remelted and secondary lead ingots / lead scraps though pyrometallurgical process. Our refining process, producing pure lead ingots with a minimum purity level of 99.97% by weight but achieves purity level of 99.985% in most of cases.
We produce & import remelted lead ingots / blocks, which contains about 97-99% lead metal with remaining impurity elements (total 2-3%) as antimony, tin, arsenic, iron, bismuth, copper, silver etc. This is commercially called as 'raw lead or lead bullion', which is further processed to pure lead (99.97 purity) and / or specific lead alloys. Remelted lead ingots is being produced by smelting operation done in blast furnace / rotary furnace. India considered as one of the biggest importer of this product.
Gravita offer various lead alloys manufacturing processes & kettle / pots, which are of highest precession of desired specification. Company’s strength lies in process to manufacture lead-calcium alloy and lead selenium alloy, which are used in grid casting for maintenance free & low maintenance lead-acid battery manufacturing.
Company supply alloying pots of various capacities ranging from 5-35 MT per batch accompanied by high efficiency natural gas / LPG Gas / furnace oil burners equipped with preheating arrangements. The system is equipped with designed sets of pollution control equipments. Company configures the total alloying plant package(s) as required.
