The depth of the impression is variable and can be adjusted from light marking to heavy blows by turning the knurled head. Screwing the cap downwards produces heavy indentation; progressively lighter marking can be obtained by screwing the cap upwards. Once the knurled cap is set to the desired position, the punch will strike the same depth every time. These have a round shank with clean and well cut knurling for positive non slip grip. Tips are made from hardened tool steel and can be easily removed for resharpening or replacement. These are available in three types: Automatic Centre Punch- Light Duty Useful for light marking jobs. Automatic Centre Punch- Heavy Duty A heavy-duty version of the above punch. It is capable of making very deep indentations. Marking Punch A heavy duty punch with a single piece point and shank.

Drift Punches are ideal for lining up holes in 2 or more pieces of metal and for drawing pins through various assemblies. These are also referred to as "Alignment Punches".
