| ProductsTelephone Armoured Cables![]() Armoured Telphone Cables with ATC Conductor, PVC Insulated and PVC Sheathed Twisted Pairs bunched together in Concentric layers so as to minimize cross-talk and wrapped with melinex or PVC Tape, armoured with G.I. Wire/strip as per IS : 1554 and over all conforming to I.T.D. Specification. LT PVC Power / Control Cables.![]() Swadeshi brand, PVC insulated LT Heavy Duty cables are as per IS:1554 (Part-1) 1988 and are suitable for fixed installations. CONDUCTOR : The most acceptable metals for conductors are copper and Aluminum due to their higher conductivity and ductility. As copper has got higher affinity for sulfur, it corrodes in the atmosphere where sulfur fumes are present. In these conditions tinned copper should be used. Aluminum oxide film which is always present on Aluminum conductor surface acts as a barrier and it protects the Aluminum conductor form corrosion in fumes laden atmosphere. INSULATION : The PVC covering over Conductor is called insulation and is provided by extrusion process only. The insulated conductor is called core. IS: 1554 permits two types of PVC insulation as Follows : 1) Insulation with TYPE A PVC Compound as per IS: 5831 which is suitable for 70C continuous operation. 2) Insulation with TYPE C PVC compound as per IS: 5831 which is suitable for 85C continuous operation. LT XLPE Power / Control Cables![]() XLPE is an abbreviation for cross-linked polyethylene or vucanized polyethylene. The basic material is low-density polyethylene. Polyethylene is theroplastic material consisting long chain of hysrocarbon molecules. Cross-linking o polyethlene takes place in theree-deminsional network. As such XLPE is non polar material which possesses high insulation resistance and dielectric strength and low dielectric loss. Advantages of XPLE Due to the excellent electric thermal machanicla and chemical properties of XPLE these cables are widely used by the customers replacing the conventional cables using PVC as insulating material. The various advantages of XLPE cables are given below:- 1. Higher current ratings : It is possible to use one lower size of cable as compared to PVC. 2. Higher emergence overload withstand capacity. It can withstand overload temperature up kto 130'C because of better ageing properties and resistance to deformation under load. 3. Higher short circuit rating : XLPE can withstand short circuit temperatures up to 250'C whereas PVC cables can only withstand up to 160'C. 4. Enhanced life because dielectric losses are very small. 5. Jointing and terminations are very easy. 6. XLPE cables are not prone to fatigue damage due to vibrations or loading cycles. 7. Easy handling during installation because these cable are lighter in weight. 8. XLPE cable retain their flexibility down up to 40'C. 9. No elevation limit. 10. Better resistance to most chemicals such as ordinary acids, bases and oils. 11. PVC cables have distinct disadvantages regarding encironmental protection, if they burn they gives of corrosive gases. Although XLPE also burns but the combustion products, carbon dioxide and water, do not cause a damage. Moroverm it does not melt like polyethylene.
