Gujarat Foils Limited (GFL), a listed company on Mumbai Stock Exchange of India, is manufacturer of Aluminium sheet/coil since 1992 located at Industrial Estate of Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation; Chhatral near Kalol in Gandhinagar district of State of Gujarat in India manufacturing mainly thin gauge Aluminium sheets/coils in the range of 0.1-0.3 mm for applications of bottle caps in Brewery & Pharmaceutical sectors, heat exchanger fins of AC units in HVAC sector, eyelets in Foot Ware & Garment sector, End caps of Tube lights in Electrical sector. The Company was acquired in 2008 by new promoters namely, Mr. Abhay Lodha (Chairman and Promoter of TOPWORTH Group, a US$ 500 Mil turnover group, engaged in Steel, Sponge Iron, Mining, Power and Aluminium sectors) and Mr.Vimal Kumar Somani (Managing Director and CEO, professional turned entrepreneur with vast experience in metal and in particular Aluminium). GFL, post acquisition, entered into MOU with State Government of Gujarat in India for Rs. 600 crores (US$ 120 MN) industrial investment in Gujarat state. As a part of this initiative, GFL has recently completed end Oct-09 Rs. 60 crores (US $ 12 MN) brown field downstream expansion for adding foil manufacturing capabilities which has enabled GFL to produce bare foil in gauge range 100 to 7 micron for varied applications like Heat Exchanger Fins for Auto Radiators, Tagger & Lids for containers, House foil, and Packaging laminates for Pharma including Blister packs, Confectioneries, Tetra packs, Cigarettes etc. GFL post expansion has acquired manufacturing capacity of about 16000 TPA of Aluminium sheet and foil. GFL within one year of acquisition, has started exports of Aluminium rolled products to Pakistan and Nigeria. The export content of its production will increase significantly post expansion GFL is already actively working on downstream expansion of foil business for adding value to business by establishing Converting plant at same location at Rs. 30 crores (US$ 6 MN) project is expected to be completed by Sep-10. The products targeted are packaging laminates for Pharma /Blister, Confectioneries with/without printing. GFL has also entered in Consumer products business by manufacturing and marketing India's first embossed Consumer House foil under brand name Nutriwrap and also Kitchen containers like Casserole, under brand name Nutrias. Very recently GFL has also launched NUTRIWRAP-Cling Film GFL is managed under the leadership of Mr. Vimal Kumar Somani and has a senior team of industry experts as advisors while a robust experienced operating team is there to execute the operational strategy.
