About Us

Life is a journey and surprises await you at every turn. Surprises that can leave you spellbound, surprises that can inspire you to tread a beautiful and enlightened path.

In early 90's, the urge for such journey took us to the remotest corners of this vast country. Our interest lead us to a surprising variety of handicrafts and their creators across India. We were delighted by their exquisite craftsmanship but deeply moved to witness the exploitative socio economic mode they were in. They acquired this superb skill through generations, yet their ignorance about the demands of their products in the national & international markets coupled with the game played by the middlemen and vested interest groups have truly left them hapless & helpless.

The malady inspired us to do something about it and we, in our own small way, started facilitating a process through which the artisans can be benefitted.

In 2005, with some likeminded people, we formed a registered nonprofit organization called Join Action for Change in Society (JACS) to address the issue from a broader platform. We designed several projects to help the Cause and we got increasingly convinced that economic independence of the artisans is the crucial differentiator which can be achieved by establishing a direct connection between them and the vast group of connoisseurs globally.

The website named Handicraft of India is a modest step towards this direction and we sincerely hope that our endeavor would be beneficial for those for whom it is meant - the Artisans of India.
