It can be in the form of special lectures, seminars, film shows, interactive platforms, or well, how about something even more exciting, such as racing for the birds, or BirdRaces as they are popularly referred to. The hugely popular and rising interest in the BirdRaces (www.indiabirdraces.com) being organized across India are now part of HaritWorld. Held in cities across India, the idea behind the BirdRaces is to get as many of any city’s bird-watchers together on a single day, along with as many birds as possible! Looking at the success of India BirdRaces, and in keeping with the momentum of a renewed interest in environment and nature thinking across an increasingly urban India, come the exclusive EnviroTalks. The EnviroTalks would, in each city where organised, be a full-day programme, preferably on a Friday or a Saturday, and will have the option of a field visit the following day, where children and adults can participate in a BirdWalk or NatureWalk. The EnviroTalks would be a series of special lectures, several of these suitably illustrated, addressed by specially invited experts. A variety of topics related to environment and nature would form the foundation of these programmes. They will encompass the participation of local and regional authorities in the fields of urban planning, environment, education and any other aspect of local, national and international relevance that would contribute to making our overall environment more wholesome and realistic. The EnviroTalks would be open to everyone. They would be sponsored events and all services from breakfast to the evening conclusion, including specially designed, useful handouts would be taken care of. However, participation in the EnviroTalks would require a simple Registration process, and a very nominal Registration Fee of Rs 100/- per head. This is only to lend a feeling of value and sincerity to one’s involvement and participation.
