Aim / Vision / MissionOur Vision The oldest evidence of any cultivated Old World species, from about 2700 B.C., is cotton thread and fabric from the Indus River Valley region first exported cotton textiles to Mesopotamia . In about 1500 B.C. residents of Mesopotamia and the nearby areas began cultivating their own cotton plants and in 700 B.C. Europeans first grew and wove cotton. During the late 1700’s and 1800’s, the invention of several machines brought the clothing industry out of the four walls of the home and into the factory. Machines that could spin thread, weave cloth, and sew clothes led to the growth of clothingtextile industry.
Until the 1850s, all dyes were made from natural sources, such as various parts of plants or of certain animals. During the 1800’s and early 1900’s, chemists developed synthetic dyes. From the ancient days itself as early as 5,000 years ago people have dyed fabrics and other materials and also other dyers have used mordents for several thousand years.
In 1856, an English chemist Named William Perkins discovered the first synthetic dye accidentally. This dye, called mauve, is pale purple, Perkins produced mauve when he tried to make quinine from a Coal tar product called aniline. With the introduction of a plethora of synthetic dyes and processing and furnishing technologies, the aesthetic quality of cotton fabrics has immensely increased.
