About UsHorizon Global Electronic Ltd was established in 2001 by the then Managing Director Mr Paul Pickering who today still takes an active role within the organisation as CEO, to provide for a growing need for high quality satellite and terrestiral test meters, reflective of the needs of the industry; offering value, ease of use, durability, relaibiltiy and excellent customer support.
Today Horizon is a world leader in designing and manufacturing hand held test equipment for use in the Digital TV, Digital Satellite and Digital cable sector.
The first product to be developed was the HDSM satellite meter for use in the UK by BSkyB installers. The main criteria was to provide a meter that had ease of use by an installer who was not an engineer, until this point in time the normal way of installing was to use expensive, heavy and complicated spectrum analysers . We built upon this initial meter and simple to use philosophy and now have a range that covers DVB-S, DVB-T and DVB-C with combination meters and specialist applications such as WildBlue now catered for.
Mr. Pickering believed that after sales service should be at the heart of the organisation as is best illustrated through a high level of customer retention and recurring business. Many of the Company?s larger clients have used Horizon since inception due to the Company offering the highest standards of service, choice and value.
To continue this support, Horizon has set up repair and service centers in the UK, Germany, USA and now India, travelling and vetting each centre with hands on training by Horizon staff in the initial stages and ongoing monitoring with spot visits.
Horizon has offices here in the UK developing the next generation in leading edge technologies and in Delhi in India, we feel that this sector has vast opportunities still to come in the future and Horizon is now well placed to take advantage of these concludes John McLoone the Managing Director.
With many emerging economy?s choosing to go straight for the latest technology and Horizon?s experience in this sector we are finding more and more of the industries leading organizations approaching us to carry out joint ventures to find solutions to their requirements worldwide. To-date Horizon has 3 original equipment manufacturing (OEM) products in its portfolio for leading industry brands based in the USA, Germany and France and is working with other large companies to bring their products to market as OEM?s.
All products are manufactured in the UK by full ISO 9002 accredited Contract Electronic Manufacturers. These organizations work in partnership with Horizon to engineer out cost and give the end user a Quality British built product.
Horizon achieved the Queen?s Award for International Trade in 2007 as a result of their strong export trade business. This is set to continue with new target markets opening such as India and China

Horizon recently presented its major USA partner Perfect 10 Distribution with a gold plated version of its Birdog satellite meter, in recognition of the sale of 100,000 Birdogs sold in the USA since 2002.
Horizon identified Perfect 10 as its preferred distributor in the USA after a round trip of all the potential distributors across the country in late 2001.
Horizon felt that Perfect 10 offered the best partnership, with its in-house marketing department and focused sales team. At the time Perfect 10 were a $200 million turnover company; a deal was done to create an OEM suitable for the USA market. While this happened in late 2001, it was a further 3 months before the meters first came to market, incorporating as they did many ground- breaking features, notably the potential for customers to download new settings direct off the web; this allowed for the meter to be fully upgradeable by the end user from their own computer.
Today, Perfect 10 has a turnover in excess of 700 million dollars, and sales of Birdogs have gone from strength to strength. The present meter is unrecognisable from those early versions - the latest models incorporating spectrum analyser and constellation displays. There is even an alternative Birdog called the Ultra for the Turbo-coded signals being used by many of the providers due to ever increasing demands on bandwidth for content.
Horizon and Perfect 10 now work hand in hand to develop equipment to suit the US market, with many new products in the pipeline. Horizon has also installed a full scanning facility at Perfect 10 to allow for real time updates to be created for all satellite settings - something that is imperative to the continued functionality of the meter, and something that is lacking in our competition.
