About Us

India, right from the ancient times has been known as the center for meditation. It has taught the people around the world of how to get a better control of one’s body and lead a stress free and healthy life. Established in the year 1997, at Sriniwaspuri, New Delhi, India, we 'Himalayan Yoga,' are one of the leading yoga teaching institutions in India today. The services offered by us includes meditation therapy, corporate yoga training, corporate health workshop, emotional freedom therapy, accu yoga reflexology, preventive health management programs, tension relief techniques, tension relief therapy, yoga for specific diseasesand health yoga.

Our teaching initiatives are led by Mr. Vikram Bhandari. Having started practicing yogaat the tender age of five, he has with him a strong understanding of the asanas and its derived benefits. To further augment his field knowledge, he also learned the finer aspects of traditional Naturopathy, which has helped him to present in front of the people a more refined aspect of leading a healthy life - naturally. Presently, working as a professional yoga trainer/therapist, his yoga teaching initiatives are well supported by trained teachers, which help us to provide a personalized touch to the training provided. A Proprietorship Firm, today, we have emerged as a leading yoga teaching center that makes people understand the derived benefits of yoga through asanas, pranayamas, meditation, lectures & reflective actions. Presently, we are catering to clients based in Delhi and NCR region, which include corporate, multinational companies as well as residential societies. Our Mentor

The pleasant aura that surrounds him is a testimony to years of practice devoted to understanding physiology & psychology of the human body. His extensive and in-depth knowledge of the human anatomy also provides him an edge while teaching yoga asanas. Transforming the way people look at life, his accurately designed teaching modules help in making people more positive, healthy and totally in control of their present life.

Making people understand of how to have a better control of one’s body through dynamic asanas, pranayamas, meditation and reflective actions, presently, he is engaged in a wide range of activities. These include:

  • Presenting yoga sessions on Indian national television through television studio in Delhi & Rishikesh
  • Working as principle designer of special programmes like tension relief therapy, prevention and management of health, facial yoga, kid's yoga, emotional freedom therapy, sports yoga and corporate yoga
  • Working as a lead designer & implementer of regular teachers training programme

He also holds expertise in finely combining the skills of Yoga and Naturopathy, which helps us to successfully address many health related issues faced by the people today.


Yoga & Its Main Constituents

Modern yoga is based on 195 sutras or concise aphorisms that are blueprints for living a healthy and moral life. The Yoga Sutra by Patanjali, the creator of yoga, shows there is more to yoga that can help people cultivate body, mind & spiritual awareness.

The eightfold path of yoga is suggestions for living a better life while utilizing the derived benefits. These includes:

Yama:

It is social behaviour of how you treat others & the world around you. There are five yamas:

  • Nonviolence (ahimsa)
  • Truth and honesty (satya)
  • Non stealing (asteya)
  • Non lust (brahmacharya)
  • Non possessiveness (aparigraha)

Niyama:

It teaches inner discipline & responsibility of how we treat ourselves. There are five niyamas:

  • Purity (shauca)
  • Contentment (santosha)
  • Austerity (tapas)
  • Study of the sacred text (svadhyaya)
  • Living with an awareness of the divine (ishvara-pranidhana)

Asana:

Practice of asana/ postures as part of the exercise regimen that shows people ways to stay fit and healthy.

Pranayama:

It is the control of breath through different breathing movements like inhalation, retention of breath and exhalation. The benefits of pranayama include:

  • Purifying and removing distractions from the mind
  • Making it easier to concentrate & meditate

Pratyahara:

Comprising of withdrawal of the senses, it can be mastered through meditation; breathing exercises or though practice of yoga postures.

Dharana:

It involves teaching the mind to better focus on one point or image.

Dhyana:

Also known as uninterrupted meditation, dhyana (concentration) helps a person to meditate and create heightened awareness & oneness with the universe.

Samadhi:

The ultimate goal of eightfold path to yoga is samadhi (absolute bliss). This is pure contemplation and super consciousness state in which the person and the universe becomes one.

These eight limbs work together, where the first five steps yama, niyama asana, pranayama, & pratyahara are the preliminaries of yoga and the last three are concerned with reconditioning the mind.
