Foriegn Collaborations
The broad range of HIRECT products are engineered on designs and processes developed indigenously, although technology was imported initially for the basic process of semiconductor manufacturing from Westinghouse, all subsequent developments were carried out in-house.
With the rapid advance of technology worldwide and with the need for upgrading products and processes, Hirect has entered into technical tie-up with global leaders for sourcing state of art technologies.
M/s. Transtechnik, Germany for manufacturing inverters and converters for railway application.
M/s. FRIEM, Italy for High Current Water Cooled Rectifiers.
M/s. Infineon Technologies, Germany for IGBT prime stacks.
Technical Collaborations
TRANSTECHNIK Germany and HIRECT
The Company has a technical collaboration agreement with M/s. Transtechnik, GmbH of Germany. Under the agreement M/s. Transtechnik will design and develop auxiliary converters for Traction application as per Indian Railway’s specifications. The design and manufacturing technology will then be transferred to Hind Rectifiers for serial production. M/s. Transtechnik is one of the few majors in Europe who specialise in auxiliary converters for Traction application. They have more than 20 years experience and have built and supplied 2000 convertors worldwide. Among others, their customers include ALSTHOM, Stolec, Bombardiar and Siemens. Their product range includes DC to DC, DC to AC, AC to AC and AC to DC convertors from 2kA upto 400kA.
Under the collaboration agreement Transtechnik has transferred technology for 25KVA Inverters and 180KVA Static Converters. Recently Hirect has signed another technology License Agreement with Transtecnik for 3 x 130 KVA Static Convertors for 3 Phase Locomotives.
FRIEM Italy and HIRECT
The Company has signed a co-operation agreement with M/s. FRIEM S.p.A., Milano, Italy, a Company with more than 40 years experience in designing, manufacturing and installing specialised high power rectifier systems. FRIEM S.p.A., Italy has provided their specialised know-how and designs for water cooled rectifier systems for power rating upto 630V DC and 400 kA.
For the past three decades Hind Rectifiers Ltd., has designed, manufactured and installed high power rectifier systems for various applications like electrolysis of water, electrochemical processing of sodium/potassium salts, caustic soda - chloro alkali industry, electromelting/ electrorefining of copper, aluminium, zinc etc.
With access to designs and expertise of FRIEM S.p.A., Italy, Hind Rectifiers has supplied high power water-cooled rectifier systems of international standards.
INFINEON Germany and HIRECT
Infineon is a world leader in semiconductor technology having global presence and offers the broadest product portfolio in this business.
HIRECT, in order to complement its diode/thyristor stack business has entered into license agreement for the manufacture of IGBT Prime Stack with technical know-how from Infineon.
Under this agreement HIRECT will absorb the technical know-how and upgrade the manufacturing facility to offer, sell, distribute the product in India, SAARC countries (Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan & Sri Lanka)
