History & Milestone
HMD founded in 1957 and formally inaugurated on 4th Jan. 1959 was created to serve the medical profession with affordable ,world class medical devices. It was the very first Technical Collaboration between a Japanese Corporation and an Indian MSME to produce glass syringes.
HMD started with manufacturing of Glass Syringes in the year 1959 and subsequently added other products such as Surgical Blades in 1971 , Single Use Syringes in 1986, Single use needle in 1987, Cannula manufacturing in 1989, Scalpvein Infusion Sets in 1991, I.V Cannulas in 1992 , Auto Disable Syringes in 2001 , Vacuum Blood Collection Tubes in 2007 and Blood Collection Needles in 2008 to it’s product range.
HMD is the first company in the world to launch a comprehensive range of sizes of Auto Disable Syringes for curative segment, in the world.
To cater effectively to its’ commitment of providing Safe Injections, few years back HMD wasted no time in coming-up with a 22.73 million $ worth State of the Art manufacturing facility, specifically for manufacturing K1 Design Auto Disable Syringes, for which HMD technologically collaborated with M/s.Star Syringe UK.
HMD has always been at the fore front in serving the medical fraternity by regularly adding new products to its product range. HMD has collaboration with M/s.Ester Technology, Israel and launched Vaku-8 brand of Evacuated Blood Collection Tubes and Blood Collection Needles, which are fast getting acceptance & support of the medical fraternity.

To achieve uniform quality with the help of the most economical mass:-production technology harnessed through a dedicated production team in a harmonious industrial atmosphere as per requirement of ISO 9001, ISO:13485 and the European M.D.D. Products carry CE Mark. The corporate philosophy of preventive maintenance of human relations ensures that there is no need for labour union to exist.
Infrastructure
HMD has state of the art fully backward integrated world class manufacturing facilities to manufacture not only a wide range of medical disposables including syringes, needles, I.V.cannulas, blades and blood collection systems etc but also manufacture Needle Points(Cannulas) and even the stainless steel capillary to make these needle points. It was one of the first few companies in Asia to get CE certification along with ISO 9001 certification and ISO 13485 certification. The plants have also been inspected by the U.S.FDA.
These certifications have enabled HMD's products to be accepted in highly quality conscious American & European markets enabling it to compete on the basis of quality performance competiveness and value addition and not only on price.
At Faridabad, HMD has a fully integrated plant spread over 12 acres and over 1 million square feet. The total installed capacity of the plant, which has been set up with a capital investment of over 60 million US$, has recently been enhanced for a production capacity of over 3 billion units per annum of disposables, ensuring global economies of scale.
HMD has highly automated plants with dedicated 'lines' for manufacture of entire range of HMD products to enable minimal change overs and quick deliveries. The plants also have state-of-art design and engineering facilities for developing new products and innovative variants of existing products; I.V.Cannulas, Nonreusable(AD) Syringes and Blood Collection Tubes.
