Hotel Woodstock s association with Pahalgam goes back to 1920. Pahalgam once a sleepy village of shepherds, found the fancy of Sardar Garib Singh a transporter by profession. Thus began the long journey. Established in 1928 as Kashmir Khalsa hotel and latter the name changed to Hotel Woodstock in 1971.

The family has played a vital role in promoting Pahalgam as top summer destination. Right from providing road and transport in early years to keeping in touch with changing times and requirements of holiday travelers.

Despite troubled relations with Pakistan regarding Kashmir-the family took up is renovations and reconstructions in 1970's. The first centrally heated block of Pahalgam. Came up in 1976 which hosted a number of filmstars like Mr.Raj Kapoor /Mr.Rajinder Kumar/Mr.Raj Kumar/Mr.Shammi Kapoor to name a few of the famous stars.

Inspired by filmaker favorite destination and foreign tourist attraction to Pahalgam for trecking/trout fishing and the abundant natural beauty. The family took a decision to convert Hotel Woodstock to a hotel of international standard in early 1980.

Pahalgam is bestowed with abundant natural beauty to realy enjoy pahalgam and its surronding place one needs at least three to four days.

• Chandanwari Snow Bridge: 16 km aproachable by road takes about 2 to 3 hours round trip
  
• Aru: First stage to Kolia Glacier /Tarsar/Marsar lake is a beautiful medeow at 9500 feet height. Taxi takes 2 to 3 hour round trip Betab Valley/Kashmir Valley/Baisaran/Old Lord Shiva temple(Mamal) are other places to see.

• Golf Course: The nine hole golf course is now being converted into 18 hole course by tourism department.
