Retail Management

Retail Management

Retailing has come to occupy a prominent position in today`s modern society. Inspite of the Indian retail revolution, it is said that over 90% of the sales in Urban India are still through traditional trade. Nevertheless, modern organized retail format is slowly gaining acceptance and can easily be said to be emerging as a sturdy contender among consumers. This book is an attempt to communicate the various development occurring in the retail market especially on account of the evolving consumer behaviour. Typically, the evolution of the retail trade can be studied by having a look at four components-consumers` (shoppers`) behaviour, trade structure, the retailer-manufacturer relationship and competition. It is said that organized modem retail trade has altered the first paradigm of consumer (shopper) behaviour. The profile of the modern format shopper can easily be described as an affluent one with higher and more disposable income, although they face the paucity of time to explore a detailed shopping experience. However, such consumers have also revealed a willingness to pay a premium, provided they receive better service quality at the retail outlet. In addition to this, these modern customers would also appreciate additional facilities such as ATMs, packing assistance and in-store attendants. Thus the challenge before organized retailers is to offer a product and service oriented shopping experience to their customers.
It is in this context that the textbook will be useful to all students of Retail Management. This book comprises of six part, where the first five parts cover `14chapters`related to the different and important facts of retail management. The last section (part6) on `cases` is devoted to the study of 12 real Indian retail firms. This comprehensive book on Retail Management is based on materials drawn from various books, magazines and other secondary sources to make the content matter more informative, interesting and an enjoyable experience.

There is also a thematic survey of major analytical contributions in the modern period. Parallels between modern development and earlier contribution have been touched upon. The standpoint throughout is that of the classical and the post-classical and the post-classical perspectives. The releance of the Nobel contributions to development economics is examined and an account of the sraffian economics i the light of a synthesis along Marshallian and Schumpeterian lines has also been provided. Entrepreneurship Development And Project Management

Entrepreneurship is a vital source of change in all facets of society, empowering individuals to seek opportunity where others see insurmountable problems. Entrepreneurship can play an important role in finding solutions to the challenges facing civilization. Just as entrepreneurs combine things to create innovations, I have integrated the most valuable entrepreneurship and project management theories and tried to provide an action-oriented approach to the subject through the use of examples, cases, and lists. By striking a balance between theory and practice, I hope the students will benefit from both perspectives. The comprehensive collection of concepts and applications provides the tools necessary for success in starting and growing an enterprise.
The book attempts to address the issues-How to develop enterprises that have a positive impact, sustainable performance, and realistic potential for Iongevity?
