dsDNA is a specific serological marker for Systematic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE). The detection of anti-dsDNA antibodies is of exceptionally high diagnostic & clinical significance as a direct role of dsDNA antibodies in the pathogenesis of SLE.

The new Aeskulisa DF MMP-3 is used as an activity and early prognostic marker for the development of bone erosions in rheumatoid arthritis. 
MMP-3 is directly involved in cartilage and bone degradation in RA. It  has also been shown to predict bone erosions in early RA patients 6 to 12 months in advance. Serum levels of RA patients are strongly elevated and correlate with the amount of MMP-3 in the synovial fluid. It helps monitoring disease activity since it offers a faster and cheaper option to the assessment of clinical activity than using activity scores like DAS, DAS28, SDAI or CDAI.

Smith Antigen summarizes core proteins of the U1-snRNP complex. The U1-snRNP is part of the splicosomal complex, that facilitates the processing of the pre mRNA to mature mRNA in the nucleus. Antibodies against Sm belong to a heterogeneous group of ANA which are associated with various autoimmune diseases. Anti Sm antibodies are highly specific for SLE and are thus included in diagnostic and classification criteria for SLE.
