Clock towers are today mostly admired for their utility to a common man. A big clock placed at the centre of a small town or a village with hourly bell striking is popularly known as Time Square or “ Ganta Ghar. People gather near the Bell clock towers during morning and evening to relax. People make the clock tower area as a place for their general meetings at leisure times.
Even today the bell sound from a clock tower creates time awareness to many commuters to start their day to day activities as per their programs on a fixed time schedule. As clock towers became more common, the designers realized that a dial on the outside of the tower would allow the town people to read the time whenever they wanted.
Tower clocks are built with one or more clock faces or dials.
