After 20 years of export experience, Om Leather Artdeco has finally ventured into serious retail with its flagship store Indostyle at South City Mall. Says Soubhik Dawn, one of the directors from Ardeco Collection Pvt Ltd, the subsidiary company that handles retail, We have a store at Manicktala, but this store is largely our focussed effort on retail. The company plans to have 15 exclusive stores by 2011. A tie-up with Brandwell will see designs from the Irish company in the Indostyle store.
Decor
Spread over 500 sq ft, the interiors are a play between white walls and large wooden panels. Tile flooring and white lighting are the other decor elements. The display is simple and straight.
The collection
While crafted leather from India makes up the collection, the metal fittings and accessories have been imported from Germany and Hong Kong. Indostyle offers a wide variety of handbags, evening bags, purses, wallets, belts, credit card holders, organisers, passport holders, mobile covers, office products and gift items.
For summers this season, the collection includes green and ivory along with black, brown, tan and burgundy. Red marks the bridal collection. Fittings and accessories have been kept to a minimum, though clutches are high on the bling factor.
In keeping with international trends, large bags fill the racks. Rectangles, crescents and gathered designs are some of the forms to choose from.
While ladiess handbags start at Rs 600, evening bags are priced at Rs 500 onwards. Ladiess belts come for Rs 200 plus. Mens folios are priced at Rs 1,500 onwards, wallets Rs 250 plus. Mens belts come for Rs 350 onwards.
