Coupled with our focus on product quality and customer service, is our commitment to the environment. Under our Plantations Programme, we have greened more than 90,000 hectares of land so far, a significant jump from a humble beginning of 2800 hectares in 1986. Under the plantations programme ITC provides farmers with high-yielding, disease resistant, soil-specific clones, with a buy-back guarantee at the end of 4 years. While focusing on procuring consistent, high quality fibre from plantations, we have also initiated a programme to collect household and office waste from residential colonies and institutions like schools and offices. Under the Wealth Out of Waste (WOW) programme, (currently operating in Andhra Pradesh, Bangalore and Coimabtore) we purchase all recyclable waste from these locations for use in our recycled paperboards unit at Kovai. Materials like metals and plastic are further handed over to recyclers for use in their industry. Each of our manufacturing units specializes in a range of products. Together, these units produce more than 500000 TPA of paper and paperboards that meet stringent quality requirements across the world.
