About Us

Ivax Paper Chemicals was the first company to venture into manufacturing specialty chemicals for the paper and paper board industries in India.

Ivax started with its first manufacturing facility in Kallakal, Andhra Pradesh in 1988. Ivax brought to India the latest techniques in manufacturing Rosin derivatives - soap size and rosin emulsion from Britain, for paper sizing applications. At this time most paper manufacturers in India were using crude methods for sizing paper and using mill cooked rosin for their sizing applications. Mill cooked rosin not only varied in quality and consistency but was also difficult to handle and store. The introduction of Ivax 500 (soap size) and Ivax 300 (emulsion size) was a welcome change and well appreciated by most paper manufacturers.

Ivax always believed in providing the latest and best products to its customers, along with a strong technical backing. In 1992 Ivax set up its own state of the art R & D centre and application laboratories at its head office in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh. The focus was on innovation of existing products as well as to add newer chemicals to our range of products so that our customers can stay ahead of competition not only in the India but in any market around the world.

Ivax was the first to introduce AKD emulsion size in India. In 1993 Ivax set up a facility to manufacture Alkyl Ketene Dimer size in India. This was a wax based sizing emulsion which could be used at alkaline pH and reduce the need for alum in the paper making process. This was the latest technology in paper sizing at that time.

In 1996, there was a need to improve the retention of chemicals and fillers on the paper machine and to meet this need of our customers Ivax introduced a range of polymers for retention. Ivax tied up with some of the leading manufacturers in the world to introduce the best products which were custom made for the paper industry. A range of flocculants and coagulants were introduced in 1997. We also appointed some specialty application experts who could help our customers use these products to obtain optimum results.
