Established in the year 2003, we at Jatropha Vikas Sansthan are one of the leading cultivator/ supplier of Jatropha curcas in the Northern part of India. To fulfill the increasing requirement of bio-diesel, we offer our Jatropha products and related services.
With our office in New Delhi, we efficiently cater to a large number of clients in various states. Over the years, we worked as an NGO engaged in promotion of energy plantation in the following states – Jammu & Kashmir, Uttaranchal, UP, Delhi, Manipur, Odissa, Karnatak, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh.
Our Objectives
As a recognized NGO engaged in the promotion of energy plantation, we are a philanthropic society registered under societies registration act XXI of 1860. Our Achievements
Our establishment in the industry is reflected through our achievements which are mentioned below:
In 2003, we started with the tenders of Indian Railways for supplying Jatropha seeds and plantation work on Railway land i.e. on the both sides of Railway Tracks of the concerned Railway Divisions.
We have successfully completed the plantation of 17,000 Jatropha plants on the both sides of railway track for South Western Railway, Mysore Division.
In East Coast Railway Khurda Road Division, Behrampur Orissa, had completed Jatropha plantation with quality planting material of 27000 plants.
In 2004 -05, we delivered 6 lakhs Jatropha plants to Uttaranchal Bio-Fuel Board.
In the year 2005-06, we supplied 63 lakhs sapling of Jatropha, as well as supplied 12 lakhs Bamboo sapling to Uttaranchal Bamboo Foundation in the year 2005-06.
In 2005, we began manufacturing our own fertilizer & supplied 1600 Tones to Uttaranchal Bio-Fuel Board.
In the same year, we also completed plantation in district Sambha, Vijaypur, Hira Nagar, Kathua, Gangual through BPL Family.
We also began our operation in the manufacturing of Organic Manure, which is being recommended the best for Jatropha. Hence, Uttaranchal Bio-Fuel Board, Dehradun had placed us an order for 1200 ton Bio-Manure which is available with us in the packing of 50 Kg. Bags
We have also made various MOU's with the Manipur's Govt. & semi government organization such as: -
- Manipur Minorities & Other backward classes economic development society. - Manipur small farmer agriculture business consortium. - A project of International fund for agricultural development.
We have completed 23 hect. Jatropha plantation under P4 model of Jatropha mission, Govt of Uttar Pradesh in 2nd week of September as well as 500 Hect. at Jammu & Kashmir.
We are in process to plant Jatropha at Madurai District, Tamil Nadu at over 1000 acre of land in the month of October.

Why Jatropha?
The Jatrophas seeds possess some unique characteristics that are used for the production of biofuels bboth from an economic as well as an environmental point of view. It grows o poor soils in arid conditions. Jatropha seed are used as a an energy crop does not compete with other food crops as it does not need suitable lands with moderate climate.

Our Collaboration
JVS is one of the leading cultivators of Jatropha curcas in Northern part of India, JVS have already completed the pilot project on 200 Hect. of land in J&K in Sambha Distt. with the collaboration of "The Women's Welfare & Self Employment Samati", Jammu. On the basis of this pilot project JVS is going for 10,000 Hect. Land in the year 2006 through Directorate of Command Area Development, Jammu, an agency of ministry of Agriculture, Govt. of J&K.

Social and Ethical Responsibility
The JVS is committed to contributing to the reduction of global reliance on non-renewable energy sources which are contributing to global warming through the emission of greenhouse gases. The society intends to conduct its agro-forestry in a sustainable manner, with the aim of ensuring that the benefits of producing vegetable oil (for refining into biodiesel) do not come at the cost of destruction of the environment, the misuse of water and other natural resources or the loss of biodiversity.
Research & Development
We are committed to achieving quality control and security of supply. We intends to source and supply high quality Jatropha planting seeds and seedlings, to be sown on the contracted land. The society maintains an on-going research and development programme, which will initially concentrate on testing seed tissue cultures to determine in which regions they are most suitable for growing. The characteristics of these seeds and seedlings include higher disease resistance, adaptability to various climatic and soil conditions and lower gestation periods, resulting in increased yields and higher oil extraction values.
