About UsJKM Overseas, the brain child of Ms Indu Modi, was conceptualized and realized through her passion for the rich textile heritage of India, amidst which she had been born & brought up. An artist by choice, she sought to bring forth the best that Indian Textiles had to offer. Born in the Textile rich region of eastern India and trained in the Fine Arts, as a painter, Ms Modi was always deeply interested in fabrics. She began research in 1984, setting up the Royal Himalayan Co., in Nepal, and subsequently set up a Research and Development Unit for Textiles. Then in 1992 JKM Overseas was set up, to take the wondrous gift of many centuries craftsmanship to the world. Even while reviving and regenerating traditional techniques of hand-looming. JKM Overseas Pvt. Ltd. was incorporated with a mission to produce exclusive and rare fabrics like Pashmina and Silk. The company guided by the chairperson ventured into the villages of India to tap potential talent, and to give an international exposure to a discerning audience. |
