» Casing
Casing of tower made of fiberglass-reinforced plastics. The cooling tower design and constructed for minimum maintains and long lasting, you can able to operate in aggressive environment and resistant to water born contaminations.

» Fill
Honeycomb type PVC fills are used for extended contact area having a high heat transfer efficiency. The crossing of air and water streams in close proximity, which creates a diffused turbulence conducive to evaporation and efficient heat transfer.

» Water Basin
It is leaking proof, which avoids spillage and seepage of water. It is deep sump to ensure maximum water level at all times and made of FRP with additional stiffeners to take care of weight of extra water.

» Sprinkler
Jyoti's specially design rotary sprinkler head is made of aluminum alloy to avoid corrosion, also fitted with sealed ball bearing to take care of trust and redial loads. It rotates at 10 RPM by the reaction force from the circulating water that is discharged at low pressure, out of holes along HDPE pipes screwed into a rotating head.

» Fan
It is of aerodynamic designed axial flow type to achieve high efficiency; Jyoti's fan is made of adjustable FRP/ Aluminum alloy blades that ensure large air flow at static pressure. Low noise level and also corrosion free. Adjusting pitch angle of the fan blades can change fan power consumption.

Maintenance
JCT are so designed as to minimized the burden on maintenance as exemplified by the regimen for proper upkeep described here. Lubrication of motor bearing is recommended after about 6000 of operation. For this, simply remove outlet plug; cleanse bearing without dis-assembly; blow dry with compresses air. Refill cavity with suitable high-grade grease and replace out plug.

The oil seal on rotary sprinkler head requires replacement every two years. Lithium base grease is advised for lubricant of sprinkler bearing at the end of each year of service.

It is suggested that the strainer in the water basin, which prevent air borne contaminants from entering the system, be cleaned on a regular basis. Again, depending on the quantity of water being used, sludge and other similar sediments may collect in the basin. All such deposits can be easily scrubbed of using nylon brush and flushed away with a pail of clean water.

Principle of Operation of Cooling Towers
Cooling tower is a heat exchanger, which removes a certain amount of heat from a water system. This heat is transmitted to the atmosphere and the water is returned at a lower temperature. The air is used as a cooking medium via the physical phenomenon of evaporation. Taking in to account the condition of the air when it enters the cooking tower, only 10 to 15 percent of the heat is generally removed by convection. Evaporation is thus the predominant phenomenon; its efficiency is directly bound up with the design of the exchange surface. The theoretical cooling limit is the wet bulb temperature of the entering air (the temperature at which pure water evaporates into wet air up to saturation point at the relevant temperature).

There are two main factors which determines a cooling tower
The air is set into motion by :
The exchange surface consists either of the droplets of water themselves ("splashing" type) or by films of water trickling over the surfaces ("film" type). The thermal calculation gives the quantities of air and the necessary exchange surface to be used, thus making it possible to determine the dimensions of the cooling tower. The basic equation of heat exchange are used for these calculation, but only extensive testing gives the necessary experience in calculating the exchange factors in terms of different parameters (in fill quantity, speed of air, water flow rate....) pressure drop factors too are decided on the basis of research / development and field testing on different sites and climates.

The size of the cooling tower varies according to the approach to the cooling limit. It is thus of capital importance to determine well in advance.
