Angina |
A temporary decrease in blood supply to the heart can
cause discomfort known as Angina Pectoris. Angina Pectoris is not a
heart attack, but it is a common symptom of coronary artery disease. Pressure, tightness or squeezing sensation in the chest, back, arms, neck or shoulders Indigestion or a feeling of uneasy fullness Burning or aching in the throat, jaw or chest Numbness or tingling in the hands and arms Shortness of breath |
Sometimes medication, rest or making changes in your
activities can control or relieve Angina Pectoris. If these methods do
not work, surgery may be needed. |

Heart Attack |
The death of heart muscle is a heart attack. In
medical terms it is called Myocardial Infarction (MI). A block in the artery impedes the supply of blood to the heart. The heart is deprived of oxygen, so crucial for its functioning. This causes the death of heart muscle. Pain or a sense of compression or tightness in the middle of the chest. This pain is felt in the central chest and may sometimes radiate down the left arm, to the jaw or to the back. The pain is usually aggravated by exercise and relieved by rest, though variant forms may occur. The pain may be accompanied by sweating. |
A clot-busting drug can help dissolving the clot and
help the circulation of blood, thereby saving heart muscle from damage. |
