Tanning is the process converts the protein of the raw hide or skin into a stable material which will not putrefy and is suitable for a wide variety of end applications. Various proteases, amylases and lipases are used for soaking, bating, de hairing and decreasing.
Scudding is carried out for removal of hide with the help of plastic knife
Deliming makes the hide soft and flexible
Crusting is the process where hide/skin is thinned, re tanned and lubricated. Often a coloring operation is included in the crusting sub-process.
