Maize is used on a large scale to produce corn starch. Corn germs are liquid separated form the hulls in germ separator, followed by starch seperation  from Gluten by merco pressure nozzles, discharge centrifuges & purified by pumping through starch washing Hydro cyclone.

These Multiple hydro cyclone are fed tangentially with overflow of lighter Gluten discharged from one housing – (Gland) & the underflow of heavier starch discharge from another Housing.

This highly purified starch is dried & sold or it is cooked & heated to convert the soluble dextrins & gums. This increased amount of washed starch is conveyed to the sugar refinery where the starch molecule is chemically depolymerised & Hydrated to dextrose or to corn syrup by action of enzymes & acids.
