An NGR is primarily a safety device that reduces shock hazards to personnel & equipment. They provide protection against high voltage. These are also used to protect power transformers, power generators & other allied equipment in power systems against 50/60 H faults (short circuit) and transient phenomena (lightning). These resistors offer protection against high voltage & are virtually maintenance-free. Its technical specifications are as follows:

Materials used: Our Neutral grounding resistors are made from tough steel grids of a high quality iron-chrome-aluminum ( Fe Cr Al ) alloy or AISI 304 SS. They are non-corroding & offer good electrical stability thus eliminating maintenance problem & are suitable for installation in outdoor atmosphere.

Insulation: Our neutral grounding resistors use mica and ceramic insulators.

Ventilation: Neutral grounding resistors are contained in fully protected and ventilated steel enclosures. If required, insulated cable boxes are provided for incoming and outgoing cables on the side or top of the unit, with removable covers and gland plates.

Range Rated Current: From 1 amp to 5000 A Rated voltage: from 0.50 to 72.0KV Rated time: 1 sec to 30 seconds. Quality Testings: Our Neutral grounding resistors are designed, rated, manufactured & tested in strict compliance with IEEE-32. Our Neutral grounding resistor are tested on various parameters like resistance, voltage power frequency, insulation, aspect verification, dimensional control.

Dynamic Breaking Resistors

We are also offering top quality Dynamic braking resistors (DBR) that are used to absorb the energy generated while stopping electric motors. They function to absorb this energy & cool down quickly between stops .We have developed a wide range of DB resistors for locomotives & metro vehicles, that are manufactured in standard or customized packages as per request. Units can be supplied either as open banks or mounting into existing enclosures. High quality iron-chrome-aluminum ( Fe Cr Al ) alloy or Stainless steel ribbon bank resistors feature a 3-inch wide stainless steel resistive alloy element that is serpentine, formed from one continuous strip. These are designed with superior mechanical strength to eliminate possible internal shocks. The element and terminals are rigidly supported by two mica-insulated through-bolts. Elements are double insulated to ground & end frames are provided with slotted mounting holes for easy installation. Available with multiple taps. Stainless steel end mounting channels & through-bolts are available for highly corrosive environments or prolonged outdoor use. Some of the specifications of our range are :

The range of resistance boxes we are offering is specifically designed for both A.C and D.C applications for speed controlling & developing higher starting torque. Our resistance boxes are designed as per BSS/VDE/NEMA/IEEE standards and can also design and manufacture as per standards specified by the customer. These resistance boxes are designed in a way that temperature rise should not be more than 375°C as stipulated in BSS specifications. The current rating generally ranges from 7 Amp's to 600 Amp's . The selection of the size of wire or strip or plate is based on the technical data of the motor on which the resistance box is to be connected. Higher ratings are also possible by using multiple parallel paths.

Punched Stainless Steel & Fechral Grid Resistance Elements:
Resistors type 'PRS' are manufactured with grids punched out from stainless steel plate or iron - chromium - aluminum alloy (widely known as 'Fe Cr Al). Each resistor grid has provision for termination that helps in changing the step resistance value of a given resistor assembly without dismantling the whole assembly. These resistors are most suitable for higher currents are being patronized for heavy duty service for use in Steel Mills, Coal Mines and Foundries.

Stainless Steel (AISI 304) or Fechral Wire Wound Grid Resistance Elements:
Resistors type 'WRS' are manufactured with stainless steel (AISI 304). There are fechral, continuous, unbreakable & joint less wire wound on steel plate with porcelain channels at the edges. These resistors are widely used for higher resistance values but lower current.

EDGE WOUND FECHRAL GRID RESISTANCE ELEMENT

Edge wound resistors are designed and built to meet the most demanding mechanical and electrical requirements in the industry. They are made from continuous, unbreakable & joint less strip of non corrodible iron - chromium - aluminum alloy (widely known as ''Fe Cr Al) wound on its edge to form a elliptical or circular helical resistive element. The element is then mounted on solid porcelain insulators over one piece of M.S / S.S pressing called center support. Stainless steel terminals are welded at both ends of the resistor provide the means of connection and terminations, they are completely immune to shock and vibration.

SALIENT FEATURES OF RESISTANCE BOXES:

All the side covers are louvered for well ventilations and better air circulation results in low temp rise. All the side covers with top canopy for protection from rain are momented on angle frame of adequate strength for load bearing and free standing. Enclosure protection conforming to IP-00, IP11, IP-23, IP-33, and IP-42 or totally enclosed IP-54 are constructed as per customer''s requirement. All terminal are located at the bottom and are clearly marked with printed name plates to facilitate easy identification and wiring. Each junction point is well insulated from the other by means of mica tubes and mica washers. The resistors are designed to meet both Indian as well as International standards such as IS:1822-1967, IEEE-32. BS:587 and VDE King Industrie.

TESTS CONDUCTED AT OUR WORKS:

Following tests are conducted by us or jointly with the customers representative at our works before dispatch: Visual inspection for general workmanship, quality and finish. Dimensions as per drawing. Resistance value measurement for step resistance values and total resistance per phase . Measurement of insulation resistance by insulation tester. High voltage test at 2.5 KV to 4.5 KV for 1 Minute.
