A pulverizer is a mechanical device for the grinding of many different types of materials. For example, they are used to pulverize coal for combustion in the steam-generating furnaces of fossil fuel power plants.

Under controlled conditions, the vessel may be open or closed. If open, it may have no cover at all, or simply have a
loose-fitting flat lid that prevents splashing or escape of fumes.

Alternatively the reaction vessels may require a cover or head that can be secured tightly to the shell so that the reaction
