Belt Conveyors are used for the economical handling of bulk and packaged material over long distances.They can be horizontal or inclined and stationary or portable in design. PORTABLE BELT CONVEYORS; They are usually Flat Belt in constuction and are used for transfering piece goods within the shop floor or in Ware houses. Portable inclined Belt conveyors are limited by the friction angle of the product to be conveyed. Inclination can be enhanced by the use of Rough Top Belts and Cleated Belts which prevent the material being carried from slipping back TROUGHED BELT CONVEYORS : They are supported by 3 or more rollers or idlers in the shape of a garland the inclined rollers being at 20 /30/45 degrees to the horizontal so that the belt forms the shape of a trough and carry upto 60% more material than possible on a flat Belt Conveyor. The width of the Belt is determined by the material lump size,bulk density,capacity to be conveyed nad the length of the conveyor.

MONORAIL GANTRY CRANES; They are used for lifting heavy jobs with a manual or electric chain/wire rope hoist and moving it along the Monorail . The are used extensively for loading and unloading of vehicals. Moving materials and goods on the workshop floor and lifting and placing of components for machining or maintenence. They comprise of a electric or manual operated geared hoist suspended from a traveling trolley. The Trolley travels on the lower flanges of a I Beam. The Beam is supported on either end by columns. The columns can be fixed or movable over rails or on the plain floor. The Height of the Columns is determined from the height to which the material to be handled has to be lifted and the length depends on the distance the material has to be moved.
