The new orders commissioned by Korean ship makers in the period cited an increased of 195 percent year-on-year and reached 1.54 million compensated gross tons (CGT), which enabled the country to secure 51.5 percent of shipbuilding orders placed all over th world.

The orders for bulk carriers were largest when it was considered on vessel type, and this accounted for 65 percent of all, while those for tankers accounted for 25 percent. In the same time there were no orders placed for container ships or LNG vessels won by local shipyards, according to the ministry. Korea's IT exports recorded US$12.7 billion on the year of 2010, it saw a 34.1% increase from the same month the previous year, according to the Ministry of Knowledge Economy.
