Winding	All the winding should be kept clean and free from dust accumulations as layers of dust restrict the beat transfer winding should be cleaned by trichloroethylene in a year
Terminal Connections	The terminal nuts should be checked at regular intervals to see that connections are the cause of excessive heating and should be avoided
Sliprings	The sliprings must be kept clean. A good slipring has a shiny skin which is beneficial for reducing the brush wear to a minimum. Such a slipering should be wiped with a lint free cloth, moistured with a little petrol, if necessary to remove the grease or oil, on the surface
Anti-Friction Bearing	Ball and roller bearing will run for long periods without any troubles the bearing housings are filled with the right quality and quantity of grease before dispatch. During operations, bearing must be regularly checked for noise heat and regressing. The maximum permissible continuous temperature of the bearings measured at bearing top by a mercury top by a mercury thermometer is 85 the grade of grease used for the bearing should be lithium base
