Industrial Furnace

For various industrial applications heat is necessary and this is cater by different industrial furnaces. Industrial furnace contains number of burners which can be mounted in floor, wall or roof, depending upon the purpose. The flames heat the tube and the fluid surrounded by the first component of the furnace, which is identified as the radiant segment. The burning process takes place in a chamber which is known as firebox. Through radiation the heat is transferred to the tubes around the flames in the cavity. The heating liquid heated in the direction of the preferred temperature. The industrial heating furnace is made up of different heating equipments.

Industrial furnaces are used for various heat treatments of materials. Heat treating helps in the value addition to metal products, especially steel and nonferrous products, by imparting specific properties to the parts. These properties are critical to the proper function of the parts. For heat treating normally three steps are followed. The part is first heated to a specified temperature up to 2400.25ºF. It is then held at that temperature for the required amount of time which may vary from few seconds to few days. Finally, the parts are cooled either in the furnace or by quenching methods, which quickly cool the parts.

Ashing is designed for removing matrix constituents that might interference with the measurement of the analyte. Box furnaces has a box shape and a box-shaped interior. Product is loaded in the bottom loading furnace which is treated through the bottom of the chamber via a platform elevator. In top loading laboratory furnaces the products are placed from the top. These furnaces are used for annealing, enameling, or hardening metals. Electric muffle furnace is encased in thick mild steel sheet reinforced with iron angles firmly riveted at joints. Heating elements are made of super Heat Resistant elements. These elements are wound externally on the ceramic muffle of required chamber size and embedded in best quality high temperature setting cement.

Pit furnace are those furnace that are applied for heating various metals or alloys of metals. They are available in various sizes and are either gas fired or fuel fired. They can operate at various temperatures and are designed in such a way that the heat loss is minimum.

Safe operation, is an important aspect of this furnace because the fan and heating elements are separate from the load chamber. Due to this damage from accidental contact is eliminated. Metal lining is used in the entire work chamber which gives the furnace maximum durability.


 
 

Batch Furnaces

For brazing operations batch furnaces are also commonly used. The operation is used for small- to medium volume production, especially where many types of brazing operations are required. The brazing in batch furnace brazes in "batches," or one load at a time. Normally the batch atmosphere furnaces are of the box design and consist of box-type design which incorporates entry and exit doors, a heating chamber, and a water-jacketed cooling chamber.<\p>


 
 

Continuous Carburizing Furnace

In a continuous carburizing furnace the work enters and leaves the furnace in a continuous stream. Continuous furnaces are suited for the high-volume production of similar parts.
In roller hearth type of carburizing furnace products are more stable because a cylindrical shell enables good temperature and atmosphere control.
Rotary Drum Type continuous carburizing furnace on the other hand is more useful for process involving small parts-supplying, carburized hardening, washing, tempering and removal are carried out continously in a completely integrated heat treating system.


 
 

Muffle Furnaces

A carburizing furnace is an important engineering device that is used for carburizing. It is mainly utilized for hardening and processing facilities. The whole process involves the diffusion of carbon into steel. In Carburizing furnace process the interior of the furnace is heated and the source gas is introduced to provide a source of carbon, whereupon a chemical reaction occurs at 850-1000°C which diffuses the carbon into the steel. The quantity of carbon that is diffused into the steel is called the carburization performance which is normally displayed as a carbon potential (CP) value.


 
 

Retort Furnaces

In a retort furnace hydrogen provides the active ingredient to clean the braze components, and eliminates the need to use flux. The enclosed hydrogen atmosphere is protected by an inner heat resistant alloy container. To accelerate the cooling rates, at the end of the cycle the nitrogen purge is used. However precaution must be taken with potentially explosive mixtures of hydrogen and air.


 
 

Vacuum Brazing Furnaces

In Vacuum Brazing furnaces loading may be either in batch or it may be semi-continuous. Vacuum furnaces may or may not use retorts that are evacuated and heated to brazing temperature. Vacuum furnaces are usually limited to smaller charges because of the inefficiencies relating to cooling the large mass of the vacuum retort. To speed up the cooling, sometimes an inert or purge gas is introduced into the retort to speed cooling. Some of the brazing furnace is of the coldwall type consisting of a water-cooled vacuum chamber with thermal insulation and heating elements located within the chamber where brazing takes place. Vacuum furnaces come in a variety of loading, material handling, and work zone configurations.


 
 

Vacuum Carburizing Furnace

acuum carburizing gas furnace also comes in two forms- batch and continuous. A continuous carburizing furnace consist of a heating chamber, conditioning chamber, carburizing/diffusing chamber, a second conditioning chamber, and a cooling chamber. Heating chamber is meant for heating a workpiece under a atmospheric pressure from here the work piece is passed to the first heating chamber. The work piece is then treated in a carburizing/diffusing chamber . A cooling chamber is used for cooling the workpiece which it receives from the second conditioning chamber under the atmospheric pressure. Apart from this there is a door which opened/closed only when the workpiece is transported from one chamber to another.
