The three pack product consists of a resin base, hardener and a bag of specially graded fillers. The working surface requires to be primed using k5sealcore primer. K5crete epx is easy to place using hand tools giving concrete repairs of the highest mechanical properties. The mortar can be used to give support to concrete arises and will act as a high strength support under steel units. PRODUCT: K-5 STONEHARD HD is a non metallic factory blended ready to use material containing special hardwearing abrasion resistant aggregates for monolithic bond with the base concrete. PURPOSE: For use on heavy duty industrial floor where floors are subjected to heavy wear and abrasion. USAGE: Ready to use material. Needs only addition of precise quantity of water. Laid as 12 mm thick topping. (.13 W/P ratio i.e. 3.25 Ltrs water) COVERAGE & PACKING: 25 kg bag mixed with water will cover approximately 1 -1.2 m2 at the thickness of 12 mm. 25 kg lined HDPE Bags. DESCRIPTION: K-5 STONEHARD HD is a ready to use pre blended cementitious integral floor hardener containing non metallic, non-oxidising chemically inert aggregates having high degree of wear and abrasion resistance. K-5 STONEHARD HD is laid as 12 mm thick topping on fresh concrete (monolithic construction) or as a topping on existing concrete floors (separate construction). WHERE TO USE: Loading bays, Factories, Warehouse, Car Park, Trucking Lanes, Workshops, Garages, Subways, Power Stations & Abattoirs. MONOLITHIC CONSTRUCITON: (1.1) BASE CONCRETE : The base concrete shall have a minimum cement content of 330 kg/m3 with a slump of 40-60 mm using a low w/c ratio. The use of normal plasticizer at a dosage rate mix for 3 minutes until homogeneity in mix is established. 3-5 bags can be mixed at a time. (1.4) LAYING K-5 STONE HARD HD TOPPING : Allow the water to evaporate on the freshly laid compacted concrete. Depending on ambient temperature conditions, this could evaporate in between 1-2 hours. K-5 STONEHARD HD should be spread evenly on the concrete to the required thickness (12mm) after the surface water has evaporated. The spread is consolidated and leveled by the use of a straight edge. Care should be taken to well compact K-5 STONEHARD HD especially at corn and bay edges. The use of a hand rammer at these points is recommended. Final hand trowelling is recommended to remove any disc mark of the power float. (1.5) CURING : After the final troweling, as soon as the surface has hardened sufficiently to prevent damage, cover with polythene sheet for atleast 10-15 hours after which water curing by ponding is required for a minimum 7 days. 10-14 days curing would be ideal. If no water curing is possible, then one coat of curing compound is recommended in conjunction with polythene sheet which may be left in place for 15 Hours to prevent the surface drying out. (1.6) SURFACE SEALING : If surface sealing is thought to be necessary for chemical resistance or for aesthetic appearance, One coat of surface sealer is recommended. LAYING OF K-5 STONEHARD HD ON EXISTING CONCRETE FLOORS: (SEPERATE CONSTRUCTION) (2.1) PREPARATION OF BASE CONCRETE : The existing base concrete must be free from loose particles, laitance and oil contamination. The concrete is hacked to a depth of atleast 50- 75 mm and thoroughly washed with water to remove all debris, dust etc. Use of a epoxy bonding agent is recommended as a single coat application. The HARDNER and BASE components shall be thoroughly mixed, preferably by mechanical means. The mixed liquids shall be drained into a forced action mixer and the AGGREGATE component gradually added under constant mixing until a uniform colour has been achieved.
Placing : KSCRETE EPX shall be applied on the primer after 6 hours of primer application. The material should be tamped and troweled to ensure good compaction and a tight finish. Minimum application thickness is 10mm; maximum application thickness is 150mm in one layer.
Health & Safety: KSCRETE EPX is non-hazardous. It should not be swallowed or allowed to come into contact with skin or eyes. Suitable protective goggles and gloves should be worn. In the case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice. If swallowed, seek medical attention immediately, do not induce vomiting.
Stone Hard Flooring![]() K5 STONE HARD is a ready to use blend of a special aggregate and cement which is applied as a dry shake to the surface of fresh concrete or screed. It will provide continuous protection to concrete floors against wear, impact and abrasion and a high resistance to various industrial chemicals, oils, greases, detergents and hydraulic fluids found in the aviation industry. USES: K5 STONE HARD is designed to ensure improved durability in applications where the floor is subjected to medium and heavy traffic and where a nondusting surface is required. TYPICAL PROPERTIES: ABRASION RESISTANCE : K-5 STONE HARD has been tested with FUNDITOR ABRASION MACHINE using Silicon Carbide Wheels. The sample was tested for 10,000 revs. at a fixed speed and the amount of wear assessed by measuring the depth of the groove by abrasion wheels at four points around the perimeter. The results shows that K-5 STONE HARD improves the abrasion resistance compared to grano by over 200%. COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH : The K-5 STONE HARD cubes when tested for compressive strength have typical strength of over 800 kg/cm2 at 28 days. Mho’s scale hardness between 8 to 9 scale. APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS: 1.1) BASE CONCRETE : The base concrete should have a minimum cement content of 300 kg/m3 with low slump of 40-60mm. To improve the quality of concrete mixes and enable low w/c ratio to be kept, K-CRETE N normal plasticizer may be used at a dosage rate of 150-200ml/50kg of cement. 1.2) METHOD OF LAYING BASE CONCRETE : The base concrete must be laid in accordance with good concrete practice either in bays or long strips. Particular care must be taken at the corners and edges of the bays to obtain good compaction and to maintain level for subsequent trowel operations. If too much of free water is seen on the surface, water content in subsequent concrete must be reduced to obviate the presence of free water. THE TIME OF THE APPLICATION IS VERY IMPORTANT IN ORDER TO DERIVE FULL BENEFITS OF K-5 STONE HARD. If K-5 STONE HARD is applied too early, it will absorb water hard wearing aggregate may sink to the bottom. If application of K-5 STONE HARD is delayed, no moisture from the concrete surface will be available to hydrate K-5 STONE HARD, resulting in poor pitted surface. As a guide, THE APPLICATION SHOULD BE MADE BETWEEN 1 Hours-1.5 Hour i.e. when surface water on concrete is COMPLETELY EVAPORATED. (When tested with Thumb, it leaves an impression but concrete does not stick to the Thumb).
