Cristol–OTB largely prevents harmful oxidation and the catalytic influence of traces of metal. It has all the features expected of a stabilizer. It is white in colour, odorless & non-volatile. It does not change the properties of the soap. It does not react with the soap or the free alkali in it. Very low dosages are required.
Cristol-PE is a time tested preservative extensively used in the personal care and pharmaceutical industry. It is accepted and approved all over the world by international bodies such as Cosmetic Toiletry Fragrance Association, USA, European Economic Community and the Japanese Ministry of Health and Welfare. It is also a listed preservative in British Pharmacopoeia and US pharmacopoeia.
Cristol-PE is a versatile preservative with particularly good performance on Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria, and against yeast and moulds. In addition, it is soluble in oil and partially soluble in water. This facilitates easy incorporation of the molecule in cosmetic formulations. It has a good solvent power for esters of para-hydroxybenzoic (PHB) acid (Parabens). Phenoxyethanol and parabens when used together form a beneficial synergy for formulators.
Because of its favorable toxicology profile, Cristol-PE is particularly recommended in products that remain on the skin for long periods of time such as moisturizers. In fact it is considered one of the safest preservatives for cosmetics.
It finds application as a preservative in a wide variety of skin care products such as creams; cosmetics and hair care products such as shampoos, bath gels and other rinse off products. It is also used in surfactants, raw materials for cosmetics and anti bacterial pharmaceutical preparations. It is also extensively used in Perfumery formulations as a perfume fixative.
Cristol-Premium, made from a special grade of castor oil, is a highly stabilized form of castor oil. It is processed with proprietary know-how to remove impurities responsible for odor and taste of castor oil and therefore Cristol-Premium is odorless and colourless. It is specially treated with high resistance to oxidation with odourless and tasteless character conforming to US pharmacopoeia requirements. It also contains a special FDA approved antioxidant to further enhance oxidative stability of the oil. Samples of CRISTOL-Premium have decisively shown that their peroxide number (indicative of the extent of oxidation) does not increase significantly over a long period of time.
Cristol-Premium is a staple item in the formulation of Lipsticks & pigment grinds. Also an effective emollient, moisturizer & lubricant, it is utilized in the formulation of variety of creams, lotions & pigmented products. The product is a superior pigment wetter, able to solvate a wide variety of solutes and is non-comedogenic, stable & moisturizing. Key applications are in Personal care products. Recommended use levels are Pigment Grinds - 45-70%; Lipsticks - 15-40%; Creams & Lotions - 2-5%.

Oils that contain high levels of essential fatty acids, EFAs, are prized for their ability to replenish lipids (oils) that are found naturally within the skin layers. Esters of fatty alcohols and fatty acids make excellent emollients because of their low reactivity and good stability.
Cristol-IPM is a cosmetic ester of myristic acid and isopropyl alcohol. It confers excellent spreading and emollient properties to most cosmetic preparations. It is often employed as a diluent for mineral and vegetable oils to increase solvency, promote spreading or lighten their texture. It is particularly useful in bath oils, aresols, antiperspirants, deoderants, hygine sprays, suns creams, skin care, hair care and decorative cosmetics. It is also an effective vehicle and co-solvent.
Cristol-IPP is an ester of palmitic acid and isopropyl alcohol. It is used as a thickening agent and emollient in personal care products where it imparts silkiness to the skin and hair. It has similar properties and applications of Cristol-IPM. The only significant difference is that it has a higher setting point. It is extensively used in moisturizing creams where it forms a thin layer and easily penetrates the skin.
Cristol–Gemester is an Auxiliary emulsifier with properties approaching beeswax. Cristol–Gemester can be used as an alternative to glycerol monosterate with additional benefits like emulsion stability, bodying, thickening properties, emolliency, greater dispersibility of colorant and active materials. Recommended areas of application: Anti-perspirants sticks and roll ons, shampoos, rinses and conditioners, creams and lotions, hand and body lotions, suntan lotions etc.
