Used with the noninvasive blood pressure systems for mice and rats they can also be used for tail vein injections or other studies where the animal needs to be restrained. They are constructed of sturdy clear, 1/4” wall acrylic. They have an adjustable head gate and the end plate is removable by snaps. This allows the animal to “walk-in” as opposed to the traditional method of bootstrap holders where the animal is physically forced into the restrainer backwards. The backward forcing of animals causes severe trauma.

Handy-PEA is a compact, portable continuous-excitation type chlorophyll fluorescence analyser. The rugged yet lightweight design makes Handy-PEA particularly suitable for rapid, large scale screening of samples in the field or greenhouse in both research and teaching applications.

It utilises the continuous excitation fluorescence measurement principle. High time resolution (100KHz initial sampling rate) electronics and saturating levels of illumination (3000µmol m^-2 s^-1) permit accurate monitoring of the time dependent fluorescence induction kinetics observed when a sample is strongly illuminated after a period in darkness (Kautsky effect). Typical measurements take only 1 second, providing a very high throughput capability for large scale screening of samples.

Hand-held attrition mill that easily pulverizes small nail samples for more reliable dermatological testing. When treated with 10% KOH, the micronized samples spread out rapidly and evenly beneath a cover slip, making study easier and more accurate. The homogeneous sample derived from using the Nail Homogenizer increases the chances of discovering fungal hyphae in a specimen. Additionally, using pulverized samples increases the possibility of culture isolation by permitting greater numbers of potentially viable fungal cells to come into direct contact with the isolation medium.
Pulverizing in the Nail Homogenizer is a simple task, and laboratory safety is improved since no sharp-edged tools are required. The technician places a specimen in the mill cavity, presses the two mill halves together, and rotates the halves in opposite directions several times. This process is successful with other tough, resilient materials in addition to nail clippings.
Cutting head inserts are replaceable, and the entire unit is autoclavable in preparation for the next sample.

The Photosynthesis Yield Analyzer MINI-PAM specializes in the quick and reliable assessment of the effective quantum yield of photochemical energy conversion in photosynthesis. Its operation is very easy. For measurement of photosynthesis yield just one key has to be pressed (START). Then automatically the fluorescence yield (F) and the maximal yield (Fm) are measured, the photosynthesis yield (Y = ΔF/Fm) calculated, the obtained data displayed and stored internally for later analysis.

Plant moisture stress (PMS), or plant water potential, indicates the demand for water within a plant. PMS integrates the soil moisture tension in the rooting zone (the water supply), the resistance to water movement within the plant, and the demands for transpiration imposed by the environment (heat load, humidity, wind, etc.). Thus a PMS measurement indicates the water status of a plant from the "point of view of the plant". PMS also tells how the environment affects the plant. This information can be used to evaluate how much need the plant has for water or how well it is adapted to its environment.

Hand-held pneumatic egg punch produces a clean, circular fracture in embryonated chicken eggs. The lab technician holds the egg punch in one hand and centers the bottom of the punch over the end of the egg. As the trigger button is pushed and released, the knife makes a 1" diameter cut, and the circular cap of the egg is ready to be lifted off. The lower air sac membrane is exposed, intact and readily accessible. Because the unit is hand-held, it can be used at any convenient height. Each unit includes brass fittings and six feet of tubing to connect to a compressed air source.
The egg punch may be sterilized by suitable disinfectants or by heating in dry air. It should not be totally immersed in liquids.

Filter test units with integrated gear pump connected directly to the extruder with a C-clamp flange. The filter test unit is built on a separate body equipped with caster wheels so it can easily be removed from the extruder. Large, 44-mm filter dics are availbel with variable mesh sizes, all the way to 5 microns. The control cabinet is mounted on the top of the filter test unit and can be turned for easy viewing.

Measure latency and/or temperature threshold to detect the properties of narcotic and strong non-narcotic drugs on both mice and rats. A built-in Timer is automatically stopped when the animals’ tail flicks out of the beam of light. The overhead halogen light source is a pre-focused 4X6mm stimulation area at the end of the attached tail groove that has the sensor built in for automatic tail flick detection. If the animal does not flick his tail within the entered cut-off time the light beam shuts off automatically avoiding tissue damage. A built-in timer displays the reaction time in 0.01 second increments. Manual override of all timer functions is possible. The tail groove is a non-metallic material to avoid unnecessary conditioning. The unit can be controlled by the front panel or footswitch controls: Start, Stop and Reset of test. Shutters are a thing of the past, this unit eliminates the need for shutters due to the constant “ON” of the light source.

This shaker efficiently agitates small to medium solid phase peptide synthesis flasks. It is also useful for shaking culture flasks and for agitating hard-to-dissolve solids such as polymers.

The Dynagage Sap Flow Sensors are the latest technology for measuring the sap flow, and thus the water consumption of plants. These energy balance sensors measure the amount of heat carried by the sap which is converted into Real-Time sap flow in grams or kilograms per hour. The sensors are non-intrusive and not harmful since the plants are heated up 1°C to 5°C typically. The need for this new technology is great because it is an affordable and practical way to measure the water use by plants of agricultural, economic and ecological importance.

Modern designed steel cabinet with curved sliding front door and control cabinet.
