Air-operated screwdrivers equipped with a slip-clutch, are mostly used for secondary tightening applications, which required a low torque-precision, and for the assembly of wood- or sheet-metal parts. In addition to the redesigned size-2 pistolgrip design, featuring increased power, smaller and lighter size and an improved ergonomic grip, the design-series also incorporated an improved slip-clutch. To activate the straight and the 90° angle tool, simply press the start-lever. A trigger activates the pistolgrip tool. The operator, by increasing or reducing the length of tool activation, can influence the tightening torque.
MINIMAT-ULTRA drivers with straight handle design are preferably used for vertical assemblies. As all the other tools in this series, the driver shuts-off with a high accuracy; independent of air pressure fluctuations or kind of screw joint. The supplied conductive pressure hose allows a simple, direct and grounded connection, without the need for an additional cable-connection. The DEPRAG- MINIMAT-ULTRA Screwdrivers with angle-head design are preferably used for assemblies in tight areas. Because of the angle-head design even large torque values can be managed by hand without problems. With the two-motor drivers, screws can be tightened at high speed and then assembled to high torque by the use of the second motor. The handle is linked with the angle head by a plug connection and can be arrested in different positions. The screwdriver with motor size 2 and 2.5 is a new development and has an optimized angle head which guarantees a very accurate torque transfer with little space required.
With activation of the driver, the airflow is released through the newly designed and improved controller fc10 in connection with the pneumatic controller pc10. When the preset torque is reached, the driver shuts off using the gigh accurate shut-off clutch of the screwdriver series MINIMAT-ULTRA. The integrated function-recognition reports the completion of the screwdriving cycle to the controller fc10. The required assembly time is compared to a minimum and maximum allowable assembly time. In short, the Screwdriver with Multi-Function Controller monitors itself and assures a 100% correctness of your assembly. The MINIMAT-F Screwdriver incorporates the well-known advantages of the - DEPRAG MINIMAT-ULTRA Screwdriver and oilfree operation is possible. When connected to an automatic Screwfeeder, the feeding of the screw is controlled by the fc10. Here, the function of the feeder flow-sensor is supported by flow-sensor of the controller pc10. The controller is connected to the Screwfeeder using an optionally available SZG-connection set.
The pistol-grip screwdrivers are preferably used for horizontal screw assemblies. The newly designed models with the prefix 347 are now available with an expanded torque range from 0.3 - 5 Nm (3 - 40 in.lbs). Those new pistolgrip drivers are smaller in size with a reduced weight. They incorporate advanced ergonomics and allow the possibility to choose between an air-inlet option from either below or from the top. All design models incorporate the well-known characteristics of the MINIMAT-ULTRA series, where accuracy of the screwdriver is higher than any subsequent control method. The preset torque remains constant, independent of hard- or soft pull-up joints and air pressure fluctuations. The screwdriver is actuated by trigger. If needed, Exhaust Hoses can be connected to the screwdriver; this will direct exhaust air away from the assembly area. For size 3 pistol-grip drivers, we offer additional side handles, which are useful addition for higher torque values.
The QC Screwdriver of the MINIMAT-series is a pneumatic tool with control functions for a 100% process quality of assemblies. In addition, the manual QC Screwdriver is able to register the reached torque values, achieved with the highly precise shut-off clutch. Based on a strain gage torque transducer the values can be displayed and stored via the respectively connected measuring electronic of the new controller family, type ME 1000 QC. Additionally, the ME1000 QC allows the evaluation and registration of the torque values, direction of rotation, cycle time and OKAY assembly per part. The screw tightening result will be evaluated and indicated directly on the screwdriver with green or red LEDs. Torque and cycle time resp. OKAY/NOT-OKAY status will be shown on the controller's display and stored. Various statistical evaluations can be done directly at the controller. The OKAY/NOT-OKAY evaluation is done by comparing the actually achieved values with the specified and preset limit values stored for torque, cycle time and number of assemblies per work piece. The values for cycle time and torque can be entered directly or determined automatically via a teach mode. Especially when recycling electronic scrap material, a mechanical disassembly is required (i.e. loosening of screws) prior to the handling of chemical and thermal material. The problem is: Engaging the screw drive with the bit. The required down-pressure right from the start, to avoid cam-out or ratcheting. A higher loosening torque and therefore backout-torque if screws are rusted, etc. According to the required drive direction and the most positive support-grip, a technical clean solution is:

When the torque required to drive a screw is higher or about the same as the final torque required to seat the screw, an automatic screwdriver will shut-off, even if the screw is not assembled all the way. If the torque of the clutch is increased, the screw will strip. The DEPRAG - SENSOMAT-ULTRA, a subsequent development of the reliable - MINIMAT-ULTRA Control Screwdriver, drives the screw using the full torque generated by the motor. Short before the screw reaches final depth, the DEPRAG MINIMAT-clutch is released and the driver will shut off at the preset torque value. The screw is fully assembled, without being stripped. The result: the screw is seated correctly!

The operator connects the screwdriver to the electricity supply using a highly flexible anti-kink tool cable via a power unit. The operator then presses a button on the screwdriver to choose the torque and required measurement units (Nm or in.lbs).
One look at the digital display on the device is enough – the screwdriving can begin – either by selecting trigger-start or push-to-start.

The integrated torque- and angle measurement permits the exact control and supervision of the tightening process, as well as the documentation of important processing parameters. Thus, the highest possible precision during the tightening process is guaranteed. The brushless EC-motor is the reason for the maintenance-free operation, eliminating wear-and-tear parts. It also achieves a highmotor dynamics and is capable of reaching the necessary high peak-torque required for fastener tightening. To operate the Screwdriver, a sequence controller (AST 30-31) with integrated power supply and a motor-cable is necessary. The motor-cable is available in different lengths. The sequence controller already contains ready-to-use basic programs with common tightening processes, so that the operation can take place using just a few steps.This necessitates the connection to a standard PC with the supplied, very userfriendly Windows™-Software TC 30-PC. Current Software-Updates (Statistics, etc.) can be supplied as options on special request. The integrated display- and operating key-pad visualizes the operating conditions and screwdriving results and it also allows the direct changing of screwdriving parameter (i.e. Speed, Shut-Off Torque) required for the production-process - without having a PC-connection. DEPRAG has developed a new generation of handheld electric drivers for use at assembly stations that do not have sufficient air to drive a pneumatic screwdriver. Although slightly larger than the traditional MICROMAT and MINIMAT pneumatic drivers, these new electric tools are ergonomic and available with all the standard options such as push-to-start, trigger-start, "F"-driver, ESD-proof driver, etc. Three different motor sizes are available. The maximum available torque is 3.2 Nm (28 in.lbs). The torque is adjusted on the mechanical shut-off clutch and offers an accuracy of ±5% standard deviation. The separate low voltage power supply of 30V, respectively 35V, assures safe operation. Our standard accessory program of bits and sockets can be used with these new electric tools. If the use of finders (without screw-suction) is required, we offer a complete program of Bitholders with pressed-in Finders and Bits. If the use of finders (with screw-suction) is required, we offer a finder connection set (Optional Equipment).
The pulse tool is a similar design to an impact driver, however with integrated hydraulic pulse unit. The torque output is controlled by the frequency, (= pulse per minute) and by the adjustment of the pulse unit. When the preset pressure in the pulse unit is reached, which is relative to the torque output, the driver shuts off. This shut-off transpires prior to achieving the theoretical maximum possible torque (at a certain preset), and therefore no hammer effect occurs, as with standard impact drivers. The technique of regulating both pressure and frequency, allows a torque accuracy of ±5% standard deviation for pulse drivers with a torque setting even below 10 Nm (88 in.lbs). To enhance the versatility of this tool, the reverse torque is 20 % higher than the seating torque, to assist in rework application. The pulse tools have the form- and grip design of the reliable MINIMAT-Screwdrivers, especially the straight version, and therefore offers the following advantages:
The DEPRAG - MICROMAT screwdriver excels in the screw assembly to extreme small torque values, down to its minimum capability of 0.02 Nm (3 in.oz). The extremly high torque accuracy of the MICROMAT clutch operates similar to the proven principle of all DEPRAG disconnect and shut-off clutches. The pre-set torque will be held, independent of use of operation, air pressure fluctuations and screw joint.
For ornamental screws with a scratch sensitive surface, we recommend the use of our MICROMAT screwdrivers with an integrated seed-function. This option allows the bit to engage with the screw drive at a lowered speed. Once full down-pressure is applied, the screw is then assembled with the rated full speed. For this screwdriver type we recommend a possibility of interruption of air supply.
All measuring instruments of the series DME allow the truly high-dynamic measurement of torque-values, when used in connection with the corresponding transducers. They are intended for the manual use in different application-areas, such as: supervision, control and torque-adjustment of screwdrivers; control and calibration of mechanical torque-wrenches; control of integrated DEPRAG -screwdriver-spindles and finally for verification and documentation of the assembly-quality in acordance with DIN EN ISO 9001 quality requirements.
The same measuring-electronic is the basis of all measuring instruments. The electric load emitted by the transducer is changed by a specific tuned charge-amplifier into an analog-measuring signal. The digital endvalues are displayed with help of a fast, high-resolution AD-converter. The integrated microprocessor controls and supervises all adjustments and sequences. The standard-software allows the change of the measurement-unit (metrical/imperial) as well as the language (German(English).
The DEPRAG Measuring Instrument DME200PC-V allows connection to any common PC (Windows 95 or later). This instrument is designed to process a large amount of data (up to 1,000 measuring values) and it offers a high flexibility when processing data, since all relevant values are made available to a PC using an ASCII-format. Commonly available statistics programs may be used to process the data. Additionally, this measuring instrument enables the user to perform a complete chain of joint analysis, since the PC has the necessary cycle data of torque over time. For this option, we offer our curve-program, which is included with the standard measuring instrument. Operation and sequence correspond in most cases with the already well-known measuring instrument DME200PC.
In most situations, the essential element of screwdriving technology is torque. Controlling the torque generated by the screw-driver and inspecting the finished screw joint requires a suitable torque transducer. A torque transducer is a device that creates an electrical signal that is proportionate to the torsional load on the transducer. Technical tips on torque control are avilable in our leaflet D 0080 E.
Torque transducers vary widely in operation and appearance, and work on many different physical principles. The most common of these are:
a strain gage wrapped around a torsion bar, an eddy current transducer, a mechanical (spring or hydraulic) element, and a piezo-electric crystal.
To be effective, the torque transducer must have the following attributes. It must support a sampling rate that will allow the measurement of rapidly changing loads, it must be sufficiently stiff to withstand the peak load, it must have a high degree of linearity, it must be stable under varying environmental conditions, and it must have a good operating lifetime.
With the gear-less Impact-Wrenches, the hammer is connected directly with the rotor. During the rotation, the hammer and rotor store energy, which is transmitted once per revolution, by a movable clutch-claw as a powerful single-impact onto the drive-spindle. After each impact, the solidly interconnected motor again accelerates the hammer mechanism. The individual impact-impulse is very powerful, the impact-rate relatively low.
As useful accessories, we deliver affordable maintenance units, special lubrication oil for air-operated machines, as well as balancers and oil-resistant pressure-hoses.
If the driving torque is close to the seating torque, or even higher, an automatic driver will shut-off even if the screw is not seated all the way. If the seating torque is increased, the screw will be stripped. The DEPRAG - SENSOMAT-ULTRA, a further development of the MINIMAT driver series, assembles the screw with full motor power. Shortly before the screw is seated, the driver releases the MINIMAT clutch and the driver shuts-off at the pre-set torque. The screw is therefore fully assembled, without being stripped or otherwise damaged.
Typical assembly cases include thread forming-, thread cutting-, or self-tapping screws.
Beside a multitude of screw assemblies which require a defined torque or even angle, there are assemblies where the goal is not torque but rather depth, such as:

For such assemblies we offer the DEPRAG Depth-Stop Driver with an integrated and adjustable finder. This finder activates the depth shut-off clutch and allows an exact and consistent screw depth. This model is available in straight- and pistolgrip design with maximum torque ranges of 5 - 12 Nm (44 - 106 in.lbs). The straight screwdrivers allow the assembly of screws with right- and lefthand threads. Disassembly is possible only when sensing sleeve is taken off. Pistol type screwdrivers allow the assembly and disassembly of screws with righthand thread. Assembly of screws with lefthand thread is not possible.
The DEPRAG measuring electronic ME 1000 is an absolutely new design and intended to be used for fully automatic torque data logging of the DEPRAG pneumatic measuring screwdrivers. Its principal features are: the most updated processor technology, laminated keypad, construction in accordance with EMC standards, high protection class, simple and safe handling, expanded software functions and extensive network possibilities. The torque value sensed by the respective torque transducer of the screwdriver is the basic measuring unit. The degree of precision necessary for the correct registration of the highly dynamic screw tightening operations in cases of hard crew joints is possible only with the combination of an analog peak value memory and the high scan rate of the A/D converter of the ME 1000. Signal processing is done in accordance with the new VDI-2647 guideline. Of course, all relevant measuring values of the ME 1000 are based on national standards. Every measuring unit will be supplied with the relevant calibration certificate as per DIN 17025.
