Q: What is Centralized Lubrication System? A: Centralized Lubrication System (CLS) is essentially a system which works on hydraulic principle & feeds measured quantity of lubricant to number of bearing points from central source irrespective of varying back pressure from each bearing. Q: For which equipment it can be used? A: CLS can be used for any equipment wherein there are number of bearings to be lubricated by same type of lubricant- grease or oil.
Q: CLS is "Total Loss" type or "Re-circulating" type? A: When grease is the lubricant it is always "Total Loss" type. When oil is used as lubricant it can be total loss or re-circulating. For high speed bearing lubrication, quantity of oil to be fed is large & cooling also may be required. In such case re-circulating type CLS is used.
Q: What grade of grease or oil is suitable for CLS? A: LUBIN make CLS are suitable for any grade of oil & grease up to NSGI class-III. However equipment manufacturer is supposed to recommend type of lubricant & its replenishment frequency.
Q: What are the criteria for selection of particular type of system & its pump? A: Please refer to our main brochure for type of systems & selection criteria mentioned Therein. Pumps are selected as below.
Manual : Unavailability of power source, long relubrication interval.
Pneumatic: Air source available easily. These pumps need less maintenance.
Motorized: Electric power source is available and system are big and high pressure required. Hydraulic: Hydraulic source is the only available power source.
Q: Can I design/select my own CLS and its components? A: Yes, depending upon power source available you can select pump type. As per features required & number of points to be centralized and nature of application one can decide most suitable CLS.

Dimensions of equipment & location of points on it.
Power source available and desired location of pump station.

A: It varies according to number of points, pump capacity & amount of sophistication In control panel.it can be as low as Rs. 5000/- for manual eight point system upto Rs. 10 lacs for say 1000 points system. Thumb rule can be say Rs 1000/- per point.
Q: What are the normal precautions & maintenance required for satisfactory operation of CLS? A: Refilling of clean grease through refilling filter given is the only & most important precaution. Routine maintenance includes cleaning of all filters periodically and maintenance of all piping to avoid leakages & breakages if any. Visual monitoring of flow indicators is desired once in a while.
Q: Does LUBIN provide application engineering services & training to customers maintenance staff? A: Yes, LUBIN can design the system based on information furnished by customer. Maintenance personnel can be trained at pune works or at site as preferred.
