Document Management
Cataloging project documents: As per owner’s requirement each document can be identified by unique identification number. Generally document number indicates additional information like originating department, content of file and discipline or document type besides running sequence. Vendor document numbers are also changed as per client document numbering system.
Document Metadata collection: In this process metadata (data regarding data) of a document e.g. Revision No., Revision Date, Document Type etc. are captured. There can be thousands of e-Files in a mid-size project. Additional operations like splitting and merging of e-Files before cataloging may be needed to maintain feasibility of operation.
Threading of documents to reference documents: Many documents contain references to external documents or pages. All these documents/pages are associated with its parent document. This helps a document with all its references to be clubbed together. This avoids the need to search the external document separately. Tools Developed by L&T – Linking Master, Asset Explorer.
Enterprise Asset Information Management (EAIM)
Asset to Document Threading: Most of the documents contain more or less information about assets at various levels. They may be at different levels viz. tag/equipment level, system level, plant/ facility level. Relationships between project documents and assets are created to facilitate migration from Document management to Asset Management. Tools developed by L&T – Linking Master, Asset Explorer, TXTraction.
Master Tag List (MTL) - Finalization: Listing of assets from documents is rationalized by (1) deleting redundant information (2) deriving missing tag information from documents. Depending upon the requirement, tags can be classified into class / sub class or into maintainable and non maintainable. The MTL proves to be a great tool for O&M people. Tool Developed by L&T – Dr. TNC.
Asset Register: Asset Register is the key activity on EAIM part. In this activity various details like Class, Plant, Process Unit, P&ID description, Manufacturer, Serial No., Purchase Date, Model and Vendor etc. are captured which can be useful at any point of time during lifecycle of the plant asset. Tool Developed by L&T – Asset Register.
Bill of Materials: Bill of Materials (BOM) is prepared for the consolidated MTL from OEM catalogs / manuals, Plant SPIR, Operation & Maintenance manuals etc. It also includes all types of Spares list, Process Resource Tools (PRT), Stock level etc. An alternative specification for critical assets can also be generated as per requirement.
As-Built Documents: Generation of As-Built documents/Drawings as per change notes (CCN-Construction change note, FEC-Field Engineering Change Note, FCN-Flow scheme Change Note) & Blue/Red line markups. Changes notes may be derived, directly from clients feed back or by asset verification/Photographs.
